You are correct sir! ya, for the money, those basses are hard to beat. The first pic of that bass is what comes stock. I didn't care for the stock electronics. They were 2 band boost/cut with a mid-boost switch. The other switch was a coil select for the back humbucker. The mid boost was voiced weird to my ear and I didn't care for it at all. I ended up dropping a Bart MK1 pre-amp (from a Lakland 55-01) and US Barts from a Lakland 55-02 into it (see the last pic of it). It sounded pretty stinking great. It played fantastic too. Definitey on par with my 55-02. It was a 34" scale with Hipshot lic. hardware (just like Korean Lakland stuff). The bridge was also adjustable from 17.5-19mm. I sold it to a buddy here in town that now uses it solely for studio work.

I def. regret getting rid of all the basses under the "former" category above. But one led to another typically. Theres a whole list of basses that have round-about led to the CCR P5 and Ice Blue SR5 at the very top. I didn't realize that I've had so many maple boards in the past. And here I thought I was more of a Rosewood board kinda guy.

Its not great sounding on its own, but, if you're having trouble with some over loud guitarists, hitting it makes the bass cut like hell, IME.

FWIW, I would not consider sycamore to be a "maple." They are not even from the same genus. Maples are in the Acer genus, while sycamore is Platanus occidentalis.

Though that is, indeed, a great looking board!

Alan knows his stuff, and my guess is that it does behave very similar to maple, but I'm just a nit-picker. My undergrad degree is in Natural Resources, and I had a number of forestry classes, including dendrology.
