My 1967 TeleStar T2B, semi acoustic teardrop bass. Made in Japan by Kawai, imported to North America under the TeleStar brandname.
Hope this qualifies, got it imported over a year ago....pics aren't that great but the only ones I have at the moment
With it`s myriad knobs and controls, unusual color, and non-standard pg, it definitely has that Japanese vibe. An updated, modern take on it. I love it !
I really have a fondness for alot of those Japanese basses made back in the day. I`m not talking so much about Fender MIJs, or run-of-the-mill Ibanezes. I`m talking about the kinda kooky ones or the clones. Anyone else share my interest in that chapter of bass design ? Let`s see `em !
When someone refers to "japanese art", "japanese animation", "japanese cinema", "japanese fashion", "japanese auto styling", etc., it implies a certain style that is recognizable and unique. It is in no way meant as derogatory. Quite the opposite; it`s a recognition of a very stylistic and uniquely expressive culture. Since you are a self-professed expert on all things Japan, I`m sure you know this. I have expressed nothing but admiration for these attributes and influences as they apply to basses and guitars. Why hieronymous chooses to try to usurp my intentions is beyond me. Obviously, I haven`t offended anyone else. So please, lighten up, join in the celebration of these unique instruments, and forgive my shortcomings concerning overly- anal PC vernacular.
This is my 1967 Japanese made Raven TB2 Teardrop Semi-Acoustic bass. It's identical to my Sunburst TB2 pictured on Page 1 of this thread except for the Redburst finish and bares the Raven name on its headstock. Both were made by Kawai.
