To be honest, we had practice at church tonight-
I brought the Dingwall, as I try to play one per week just to make sure each get some playing time in.

After about 5 minutes, I was hurtin' for the Flea- :(
Can't imagine what it'd be like if I had a Quantum!!

I'm dangerously close to trying to get a chechen-board-equipped Q5 for my ABII5... :bawl:

The passive mode gives you a bit more open tone, as compared to the thicker active mode. IMO passive mode can almost get too raw sometimes.

I think you can get a Quantum 5 with an F-hole, not with Lane Poor pickups anymore. I'm not sure about the top wood either.

BTW, I've never tried a better playing bass than my Modulus. The action and the neck are out of this world. It practically plays itself, and you never have to adjust the neck. EVER!

Here's a shot of my Q6 with a chechen top and Aguilar OBP3 at a show. I'll get a better pic of it up soon along with my Q5 with bubinga and EMG's.

I gotta love Modulus. Every time I pick them up its pure joy. I kind of wish I hadn't sold my Flea with Lanes. I had a student that I thought could really benifit from a great bass and I had my eye on an Eden combo. Oh well.

Well, I used to own a Yamaha Myung model (the old one), and it weighed significantly more than my Modulus. Thanks to the hollow neck and the chambered body, it doesn't weigh as much as other sixers I've tried. My 4-string Warwick actually weighs as much, perhaps even more, due to the massive woods in the body and neck.

I also tried a Fender Marcus Miller 4 recently, and felt almost as heavy too.

Oh, and the Quantums are reliable basses. My bass survived a car accident on the Autobahn. A hairline crack in the finish by the stacked control, and some loose pots, but other than that, perfect condition. Neck, intonation, string height, even tuning was perfect. The idiot driving into us from behind practically totaled the car, the hardcase went out on the freeway (my worst nightmare about the journey home came true), and slid several meters. The case took a beating, as it should, but the bass survived.

Insurance covered the cost of the new HC (soft hardcase from Gator Cases) as well as fixating the crack and putting back the pots in place. I might fix up the Modulus case or get a new one though, it was a damn good case.
