The V-6B is a somewhat oddball cab. It has Eminence speakers and was designed to pair with a 240 watt head of the same model that was solid state.

A friend was cleaning his garage and was ready to haul it to the curb and offered it to me. I'd always wanted a 2x15, so sure!

I bought the 100 head on eBay and a friend taught me how to refurb the electronics with new filter caps and other electrolytics. It also has a bias adjust rather than original bias balance and a few other replacement parts.

Making the story more surprising...the friend saw me at a gig with the 100 and the Ampeg cab and told me he thought he had a broken 100 and/or 50 in his garage. He found the 50 but had tossed the 100 after he blew a transformer trying to drive another amp with it :rolleyes:

I rehabbed the 50...it was in sad shape and running on just one power tube. It's fine now and I sort of like it better than the 100. Sadly, neither amp gets any use now that the novelty has worn off and I'm back to my SWR/Eden gear for gigs.

Blatantly good tone is no novelty.

However, your SWR/Eden rig probably sounds about a million miles from a Bassman and 2x15.

I should have explained...I double on both EUB and electric bass in a moderately loud blues band. The head was stretched because of the big bottom end of the EUB and the volume needed. If it was electric only, I would consider the 100 + Ampeg 215 (it's 120lbs but on its own handtruck!).

My modern rig handles our volume level better and cuts through the band better. The Eden cabs do a better job in these areas, too.

But, agreed, the tone can be very nice with the old school rig, especially the thick upper register.

Here is a couple of shots of the original Bassman 100 speaker cab which housed four 12" Fender speakers which I still have, the grille is original but I've recovered the cab with Fender Tolex.
I did plan to use it but I've sold the 70s Dual Showman head that is shown sat on top of it in the shot.

I knew it was big... My 1820 was big enough I hated moving it; sounded great, sucked moving it.
My Bassman 100 was so long ago I don't remember much except this: coming off the road one time, it was big enough to put my bass, dufflebag, and the head on, and roll it home three blocks from the band house to my house, with relatively little effort...'cept for the teeny little wheels grabbing sidewalk cracks;)
