Inquiry: What is the advantage of two seperate volume controls for pickups over a blend control with a master volume control?
Parts PJ I recently put together - Nitro 2 tone sunburst MIA '57 body, MIA Standard Jazz neck, Fralin P and 5% overwound J. Wired up with a 3 way switch - P/PJ/J. Plays and sounds great.

I find the single vol with pan a little easier to adjust the overall volume level a the bass without affecting the tone while playing during a song. As far as a difference in tonal variety or clarity, in a band setting I hear no difference at all between the the different control setups.
Big, big +1
It never made sense to me to put the louder pickup near the bridge.
