Show your P/J Precision!

Love this bass.

Nice rig there. Those are the only two pedals I own!

For Vancouver, BC people-
They're having a "PJ bass day" at Long and McQuade (the big store on Terminal) today with Fender product specialist Peter Davyduck, today Saturday August 3rd from 10am til 2pm. Also, I hear there will be some string giveaways! (wearing PJ's is optional)

1951 Precision in medium scale with Fender Jazz neck. Headstock modified accordingly.

Pluck em in!

Wow, my apologies for posting this (above) in the wrong place. Even though it has a jazz neck, it doesn't have the jazz pickup! Fool am I! I didn't even notice I mis-posted this until just now.

Maybe I can redeem myself a little with this - which I just got this week from Japan:

This might be closer, although even with a P body Fender called it a "Jazz Bass Special" in 1986 when it was made in Japan.

Great timing! I just wrote an installment of my new series in BP "Mod Squad" on the P/J conversion. I've had only one P/J that really worked for me over the years... the one below. You might guess based on the presence of hair that this was a good 34 years ago... wish I still had this one! The bass, not the hair... who needs hair? This was a 72 P body with a 74 J neck.... Sold it for a got-dang Ibanez! Oh, the 70's.... the mistakes we made.

Is that a Boss flanger I spy in that picture?

nice bass Ed. how'd it sound with that bridge pickup pushed way back there? did it have that usual honkyness on the D&G or was it more balanced?

Lots of great basses in here.

It infuriates me to no end that Fender won't produce a line of PJ basses in parrellel with the P and J series - MIM, MIJ, MIA PJs, American Deluxes, the same in 5, etc. Most PJs are attached to one artist or another, or are limited GC specials.

And too many J necks - they should be B width, historically and thematically, thanks and because I like them.

+1, although the Tony Franklin fretless is in my gas list, for sure.
