One person's trash is another person's treasure. That's the point of the thread. This is not my "serious" rig, but oh my goodness it's a lot of fun. If we're not having fun, we should quit playing.

BTW, there's a REALLY nice Silver Jubilee Marshall on Reverb right now, from Germany, and it's not very expensive.

I saw that but I really gotta stop buying poopie. I'm one person in one band and, though we play regularly, the GKs give me everything I need in spades. That includes DIs in case we ever play a "big" venue.

I mean, I love NoMeansNo, but I probably use that love to justify a new amp...

Dream rig for a lot of us at any point and especially when starting out! My first rig was, um, bass into mic input on cheap hi-fi separate cassette recorder set to record with pause button locked, connected to even cheaper hi-fi tuner amp into absolutely terrible no-name bookshelf speakers that crapped out much above around 10W. My mates thought I was pretty damn cool at the time... aged 12. Moved on rather a lot since but in the spirit of the OP's first post that was the worst possible rig that sounded good-ish at the time. Later I graduated to a Carlsbro Bass amp (another poster had a photo of it earlier in the thread) which I gigged with through school. Now I'm basically ampless with Helix etc.

Been there, done that. My first was a Kay hollow body with 1/2 inch action through my compact stereo.

There are two Ibanez in that pic but I'm guessing you mean the blonde ash 1980 Roadster RS900 and not the 1990-ish GAX-70 guitar. Yes, they are really hot. It's one of my favorites, I would run into a burning building to save it, and then I would go back for my kids if I had the energy. She is called "Babydoll". They are actually very affordable, IF you can find a good one. I haven't seen a good one on Reverb in quite a while. Next one I see, I will buy. They are that good.

Yeah, you and I have touched on this before in another thread. I’ve owned a lot of Ibby Artist and Studio series instruments from that era. In my book, Ibanez could simply do no wrong from around 1976 or 7 to about 1986 or 7. They continued to make great instruments afterwards, and still do, but ‘76 - ‘87 was magical. I don’t seek them out anymore (I still own 4) but when they cross my path I’m still likely to snap them up.

In my book, Ibanez could simply do no wrong from around 1976 or 7 to about 1986 or 7. They continued to make great instruments afterwards, and still do, but ‘76 - ‘87 was magical. I don’t seek them out anymore (I still own 4) but when they cross my path I’m still likely to snap them up.

Not basses, but a college buddy playing guitar in a punk band was Los Bananos for early 80s Ibanez Roadstar guitars. Had about three of them, bridge humbucker with a neck single coil, Kahler (or maybe some proprietary Ibanez) trems and square, bound body edges. Good-looking, dead-stable ass-chewin punk guitars. He always played through a 50-watt Marshall JCM900 half stack. But bringing it back around to basses, they had an ever-changing lineup of bassists, not unlike the Spinal Tap drummer situation, and at various times the bassists used a P-bass through a Yorkville Bloc 1 x 15 combo, some small-bodied Ibanez bass through a Crate B-60 with a Milwaukee’s Best can crunched and jammed under the chassis to keep pressure on the speaker lead and output jack, and a Rick 4003 through a Crate...BX160? Stacked on top of some Hartke 1 x 15 combo.

Honestly, of the three, the Ibanez/B60 guy had the coolest sound...he just wasn’t loud enough. When they played somewhere with a decent PA and miked him, it was cool.
