Labs are definitely not per capita close to the top. I haven't looked lately but usually Dachshunds are at the top.

My 70 pound boy Loki ended up as my pick for a truck buddy, I went to the shelter looking for something of similar size to your little dude.
I really don't care for the comparisons by lay people, all dogs have teeth.
The conversation always seems to become a "my favorite dog" thing and does nothing to promote love of all dogs.
And of course Pitbulls, Rotweilers, Dogo, Cane Corso, Doberman, Husky, German Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, American Bulldogs, modern Bullys, etc, etc usually start getting accused of being insane killing machines because of some very janky statistics. ...especially those vicious Pitbulls.
Bite statistics and temperament assessment is a complicated subject and has way more to do with humans than dogs.
We control their home environment, training, food supply, birthing, birth control, recreational activity, and access to family/friends/strangers.
If people routinely got some education and training before adopting a predator animal into their lives it would be good for the dogs and the people they interact with throughout their lives.

I don't consider myself a layman (as a veterinarian) and statistics take the layperson out of it. But often times humans can be the issue but many times they are not.
This is not the thread for this but some of the breeds can be outright dangerous sometimes despite training. Just like people, not all dogs are innocent. Just ask the family morning the death of their baby boy in South Dakota last month to a Malinois. Not many labs doing that. But really any other comment on this should go to PM as this is a fun dog picture thread!
Being a doctor does not, in any way, qualify someone as a dog trainer, behaviorist or statistician.
Statistics do not take the layperson out of it, statistics are constantly used/massaged to manipulate lots of things/people in many areas of our lives.
You advocate against one breed and then advocate for anther breed, this gets dogs misidentified, banned in places all over the world, killed, and radically skews the statistics.
Breeds are not outright dangerous, individual dogs are...the same way individual people are dangerous, not whole identifiable nationalities, races, creeds, etc.
Breed discrimination is not good and you should discontinue the practice.

Sure, ok. The next time Golden Retreiver destroys the face of my good friend's child I'll be the first to come here and write about it (another true story about another breed named by you). Breeds have vastly different genetics and personalities and abilities to be dangerous. If you can't understand simple genetics and purpose bred animals I can't help you.
And I'll let you in on a little secret. Every single person who works with enough dogs of all different breeds and backgrounds will learn their characteristics and yes - that can develop into breed descrimination.
Geez, you're talking about them like their humans and you'll hurt their little feelings by telling them they were bred for protection or fighting. Heck, many of the people that love and have owned these breeds for generations understand their inherent issues and often joke about them with us.
Finally, discussing my education or credentials will also not be necessary for this, especially since you think all dogs are the same.
Best of luck in you quest to believe people should treat Cane Corsos and Malinois like Golden Retrievers.

You brought up your credentials (twice now) I'm pointing out that being a doctor and addressing medical issues does not make anybody a trainer, behaviorist or statistician...and that your assuming it does is not a good thing.
I've had two veterinarians that had very poorly behaved dogs, and another one that was terrified of two super mellow Pits I brought in for treatment together, one was mine and the other was a rescue/rehab/re-home I was in the five month process of "training" with the help of my very stable dog.
A friend of my son had two different Goldens over a period of three years that both were put down because they bit the family children and their neighborhood friends.
Do you think the problem was with the two dogs or the environment they were brought up in? ..lack of training/supervision of the dogs and humans involved?
I absolutely did not say all dogs are the same, I said my opinion is that all dogs are awesome and I love them.
I also said that people and dogs should get training and that environments should be controlled, this is true for all dogs... even a GoldenLabbyDoodle and it's owner.
I spent time working specifically with dogs that were deemed aggression cases, I would guess I have more experience in that area than my veterinarian.

Mum's little dog would make itself scarce at any sentence containing 'dog' or its name and 'bath'.
