These two have no problems hearing what's going on.
When we first got Odie, we bought him a fluffy doggie toy. It was shredded within an hour. No more of those!

Get yourself a couple of these. Kong Floppy Knots toys. They come in 2 sizes and several different animals/colors. They're almost indestructible. My dogs have destroyed everything but these. Have 3 now. Still have the first. After 5 or so years!
This is the L/XL size. Too big for my 3 little Tasmanian Devils!

Maybe that won't find it's way under my 65" TV console, likes Kong balls like to do! Ollie, my Italian Greyhuahua, will still try to dig them out, randoming pushing buttons on my power controller. Lights! Camera! Darkness!

Chonky Dog Realizes It's Time To Go On A Diet When He Breaks The Doggy Door
"I looked over and Drax was on the stairs ... my mouth dropped"
Meet Drax — a chubby dog who's convinced that he's a small boy. Drax was living on the streets of Queensland, Australia, when Charmaine Hulley's sister found him. "My sister found him outside her local supermarket a couple of years ago just laying there curled up. He looked skinny and uncared for," Hulley told The Dodo. "She put him in the car and he just froze with fear and wouldn't look at anyone."
Hulley was living with her sister and her four small dogs at the time and quickly started to bond with the new addition to the family. "He's the most placid dog you could come across," Hulley said. "He's the most loving and happy and laid-back boy that just adores all other dogs."
Drax took his cues from the four other dogs, doing the same things they did — including sharing their much too small dog beds.
When Hulley moved out, she took Drax with her and adopted another dog brother for him. But when Drax came back for a visit with his smaller cousins a few years later, he was in for a surprise.
After going from street dog to spoiled pup, he had packed on a few pounds without realizing it. And after a day of playing in the yard, he followed his smaller cousins through the doggy door and got stuck. It was a wake-up call for Drax and his parents.
At first, Drax wasn't sure what happened …
… he didn't understand why he was carrying around the door with him.
"Dad came home early and saw half the doggy door panel on the ground and looked inside and Drax came wandering down the hallway very casually with it on him," Hulley said. "I looked over and Drax was on the stairs looking at me ... my mouth dropped."
Once Drax realized what had happened, he was a bit embarrassed. Luckily, the other dogs didn't hold it against him — and neither did his mom. But it was a wake-up call for the family, who have decided to put Drax on a diet and cut back on giving him treats — even though he is, of course, a very good boy.
