And to report my most excellent friend buried her beagle Sunday after the two of us spent Saturday assisting her in her transition. Stayed with her continuously to until she passed away around 4:30 am. I trust she doesn't mind being seen as we remember her:

Props to both of you for being there for the pup. I'm a firm believer in being there for any of my animal friends who have to move on, no matter painful it is too lose them. I owe it to them after all they've given me. When possible I hold them and talk to them until they're gone. Then the tears flow...

We're fortunate here in Flagstaff to have a wonderful magazine available, Flagstaff-Sedona Dog. It also covers cats and horses/mules/burros/donkeys and an occasional interesting 'other'. Rescues of all sorts welcome! There's a Celebration Of Life page at the end of each issue, where a reader shares her/his story about a beloved member of the family passing over the rainbow bridge. All tissue-worthy.

Informed today my friend spent 18 hours with her doggie and I was with them for 16 hours.* Not our normal lines of work but we were there.

I called her "pup" in the last post, but I will introduce ya'll now to Roxy.....a rescue and 180 degrees different from Sadie. While Sadie is dainty and our princess, Roxy stomps through life and leaves messes in her wake.

Chase is at the vet here. He's wearing protective goggles while getting laser treatment on his hip.

Thanks Datsgor. Chase passed two weeks ago today. He was a rescue racer. He was quite fast in his heyday.

I have just been reminiscing over some of his pictures and stumbled across this one. He was a big goofball and this picture pretty much sums him up.

Timber kinds of looks like my dog. What kind of dog is he?

I honestly couldn't tell you with 100% confidence. I got him from a neighbor who didn't want him once he was no longer a little puppy. He looks like a small golden retriever to me? He's about 6 years old and 35 lbs.

His original owner's still live nearby. They got a new dog about a year after giving away Timber... I'll have to get a better pic when I get home.

Just like my college car...460+ air conditioning. 4 open windows at 60 MPH. Plus the holes in the floorboard that had rusted away.

This reminds me of an experience as a kid. Coming back from camp one week end in the old jeep station wagon. The family mutt had her head as usual out the window ears flapping in the wind. Suddenly WAP !!! ORT ORT ORT !!! A bee or June bug or some large lumbering insect got the old gal square in the schnoz. She stayed inside the rest of the way home.
