Show your Warmoth!!!

what is the setup on this bass?

body/neck/everything...

how's the balance?
how's it sound?

...looking for references, about to build a jazz or at least planning on it.

:help:

hey, thanks for the interest. the neck is a brazillian rosewood board with lightly figured birdseye maple back finished with a vintage tint, 6105 frets, hiipshot ultralight tuners and string retainer, corian nut.

the body is a camphor burl top over a mahogany body finished with four coats of tru oil. the body weighed in at 4.1 pounds and the whole bass is 8.4 or 8.6 i believe. balances fine. control cavity is shielded with epoxy paint. pickups are SD SJB-2 hot jazz which are my favorite pickups due to the growly midrange, big but tight bottom, and smooth top end. they mesh great with the sadowsky preamp IMO which is set up as vol, vol, treble, bass (with pull bypass). bridge is a BAII with slotted saddles.

the tone is very balanced overall, warm, well-defined, and "alive" sounding. the neck is stable as hell and plays very well with low action and very little fret buzz. i am absolutely pleased with how this turned out (first build) and will eventually build another one. i'd put it up against anything tonewise.

feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Thanks for the information

that's basically the bass that i'm looking to build, with same body / neck-wood combo. the only difference is going to be the top / finish and probably dimarzio j pick ups.

when i come up with the funds i'll keep you in mind for questions.

thanks again.

Here's mine. Dinky J alder body with cream finish, birdseye maple neck, abalone dots, matching cream headstock, vintage tint finish. Fender Custom Shop 60s pickups, Gotoh 206 bridge, Sims side LEDs (gold).

I will NEVER sell this bass. Ever.

Here's mine. The only mistake was the mother of toilet seat binding and getting banjo frets (which they warned me about, but for a different reason.) You can't really tell where your at because you can't see the dots on the side, nor, on mine, can I see the frets. Sounds awesome though.

Here's my first-timer take on a 51 P Bass. Classic form in exotic materials.

Maintaining a boutique vibe with a Fretless bubinga fingerboard and neck. Black korina body. Finished with Tung oil.

It wired with a Nordstrand split pickup (humbucker in a single coil form)

Great sound strung with snazzy red DR strings.

White with gold hardware. Very classy.

EDIT: Wait a tick! Are those ****ing LED's? I'm envious

Cream with gold hardware.;) I was aiming for a Fender Jazz, with an art-deco style vibe going on. My other criteria was, to make it the last four string I ever buy, and that's why I went for Warmoth over a shop bought bass. The LEDs are gold to match the hardware, and not only do they look good but I've found them very practical on darkened stages.
