Tone-wise, this is a great match. The AD200 can do a very full, rich clean tone, though it can get leaner, if you want it to. The overdrive gets about as wooly as I would actually use, live, and the NV610 really makes the most of it (while still maintaining a solid foundation). The visceral impact of this rig exceeded my expectations, to be honest. That AD200 gets really, really loud, and the sealed NV610 holds up just fine, even if you push the head pretty hard. But man, my body and my ears wouldn't take much at that volume! :eek:

This would be a great gigging rig, IMHO.

This is exactly what I wanted to hear. It was between an
AD200B and DB750 and I really think the AD200 will have enough volume for what I'm doing. Man, what a cool rig.

I feel you. I really do. I'm trying to figure out whether or not matching styles really affect how I feel about my amp, and if so, I guess I'm going to have to get my NV610 recovered in orange tolex. Or perhaps, get the black version of the orange head, but that just doesn't make much sense does it?!

the weezer-guy had a similar setup but if i recall correct it was a vintage ampeg cab aswell as a vintage 200w orange-matamp. Not really the same but the same brands..

It sounds awesome.. I can't wait to play it next time. It doesn't do many styles but those it does is brilliant and can be used in most situations. I'll probably never trade or sell my ad200 head.

How would you compare its sound to an svt (or svt-vr)
I've red that they don't overdrive as much, which I don't know if is a good thing for me....
Also, did anybody try the thunderverb? How is it?

I made a new box for it and covered that white, still got the orange one if I ever plan to sell it. Unfortunately in NZ an original SVT or even an SVT-VR is fairly hard to come by. I used to have a V4BH and I think they are kinda similar but the Orange sounds "less modern". The extra 100 watts is nice too :bassist:

You can get overdrive by cranking the gain, but I find it quite harsh, I should really experiment with preamp tubes but a Bad Monkey or Fulltone Bass Drive sounds great with it so I just use them instead. I don't think I have ever been able to crank it enough to get any poweramp overdrive.

I've tried the Thunderverb too, theres two channels, the dirty channel is the typical modern Orange guitar amp overdrive, lots of treble, couldn't get much low end from it. The clean channel has a weird 1 knob eq, if you want low end you don't get mids. I personally wasn't into the Thunderverb, I think its a guitar amp that you can use for bass if you had to, but I'd rather have the AD200, it sounds cool for guitar too.
