This is tempting. I have a fair number of small gigs where my Shuttle 9.0/Berg 2-10 combo is actually overkill. Having something smaller/lighter that can still wallop would be nice. I briefly had a 3.0/1-10 combo but it didn't really do it for me. This might. I did 140 gigs last year and that's a lot of schlepping - every pound counts :D

As some know, I was not a huge fan of the original Shuttle 6, nor of the Shuttle cabs. High quality, nice portable sound, but they sounded a bit 'small' to me, a bit too bright, and the Shuttle 6 on its own didn't quite have the balls of some of the other 400-600 watt heads in the category.

Well, the updates addressed just those issues. The head is voiced to go quite a bit lower, due to a change in the low end voicing, and also the new power section/limiting that is of the same design as the amazing Streamliner and Shuttle Max 9.2. So now, the 6.2 really is a lower powered version of the new Shuttle 9.2. The voicing filters have been somewhat revoiced to be a bit more subtle and usable, and the cabs have new beefier drivers and a different tuning. They match p well to other 'full size' neo 12's in volume and low end.

Very impressive. Here are a few pics. Clips to follow:

The entire stack... cabs are under 30 pounds, with nice metal tilt back stands built in.

Rear view... very high quality tolex, curved metal grills, nice rear porting (no chuffing, even when cranking)

No, they went back. I enjoy reviewing this stuff, and if something looks interesting to me, I get a demo unit, review and return. However, I will say that the day after I received this rig for review, I purchased a Genz Benz Shuttle Max 9.2:D

And, if I didn't already have a basement ful of 112's and 210's, I would have purchased this in a minute:) REALLY nice sounding rig, and I get much of that tone through my new Max 9.2:bassist:

I've got the 6.0 12t + 12t. I didn't absolutely love it right from the get go, but the more i play it, the more it amazes me. I am blown away by what the two little 12's can do in a big room. The upgrades have got to make this thing nearly perfect. Did i mention one trip load in?

Below is a pic of both cabs in the trunk of my Mazda 3 (4 door). In front of them is a laptop /gig bag with all my cables etc. Between the cabs is a folding hand truck.

If I played short scale, I could fit that
directly behind the cabs and have my entire rig stowed out of sight for that 3AM Waffle House stop :)

I picked up a Shuttle 6.2 a few weeks ago and have playing it through one Bergantino AE112. I have, prior to the 6.2, been playing through a Streamliner 600 and it has been great with one or two of my AE 112's.

I am really impressed with the new 6.2! Certainly nowhere close to being "thin" and not as tubey as a Streamliner but just the same, it is still warm with lots of umph.

The venues I have been playing in are small rooms with 30 - 50 people and a small church with about 100 people. This is my third Genz Benz head and I am one very happy customer.

With a Thunderchild 112 soon to come and a Crazy 88 on order, I'm predicting an awesome summer, mixing and matching and figuring out where they all fit!

Hi all, hope all you very experienced and seasoned players can help me out:)

I don't say much in this forums but I've been reading all the Genz Benz stuff and I am considering between the Shuttle 6.2 and F500. I know this has been discussed to death but I was hoping someone would shed some more light on the tone difference so I can make a more informed decision.

I know some of you own both but I can't do that as yet.

My tone goals are quite varied playing mostly in church but occasional gigs here and there with varied styles of music. So I think I would need the versatility.

I owned a hartke hydrive 112 and I like how these cabs sound and weigh. Thinking of buying the second one in the near future.

I was searching for Shuttle information and came across this short, but sweet, @KJung thread from back when Genz revised the Shuttle line.

I bought both the Shuttle 6.2-12T combo and the extension cab, then sold the 6.2 head and replaced it with a 9.2 head, yielding a Shuttle 9.2-12T combo. I've had it, lo, these 11 years, have played it out a few times here and there, and still love this classic Genz-Benz design. Great work, Jeff and Andy!

The normal position has a higher effective HPF with a lower Q rolloff. The slope remains the same at 24dB/octave in both positions.

As in: some other cab that's not a used second gen Genz 12T? Making an exact match with the 12T extension cabinet, from the second gen series, is your best option- unless you don't want to wait a short or long time until a used one comes up somewhere. Otherwise, you'd want a cab with at least similar design - 12" with tweet/horn, similar efficiency. Andy will have additional ideas to look for.

I have the second gen combo and the matching extension cabinet. Having the matching cabinet makes the stack predictable. It's the same sound, but much bigger, more effortless and louder. Mixing dissimilar cabinets gives you less predictable results. You'd probably be happier in the long run if you wait on a matching cab.

Be very careful, that’s a LOT of power for that 12” driver and those drivers are no longer available.

Definitely be careful with the 9.2 head, Howie. As Andy just said, it is a lot of power, especially since those drivers are no longer in production.

I've never played the combo at a high volume, with or without the extension cab. If you do need higher volume, consider using a second 12T cabinet as I did, and run at a lower master setting, and/or use an HPF and limiter. I didn't get into that in my original post.

Part of the reason I swapped out for the 9.2 is that I could also use it with bigger cabs with more power handling. I've said in other threads that the 9.2 is an amazing piece of engineering. Small but deceptively powerful.

Yeah I will, but what I use it for, it won't go past 11 o'clock. Just for practice and a few low volume indoor jams. If i want more, I'll plug into the Mesa 215. But thanks for the reminder Andy 👍🏽

The only reason I'm going with a 9.2 is I've found a mint one for only $385 USD. And who wouldn't buy it for that price? 👌🏽
