Simple bass lines are great because you get the change to make them your own. Remember Rocky Mountain Way? Pretty simple until you get to the "B" then you get the chance to go into octaves and flow the noted back down to the "E".

I go up 2 octaves then flow them all the way back and it entices the drummer to follow and makes and great accent.
