Simple-ish Bassists Who Kicked Ass!

How do you like your bassists?

Why do we have to choose? I like Dusty Hill for ZZ Top and Victor Wooten for Vital Tech Tones. Lots of great bass players from the '70's who could play interesting lines - Denny Lane, Entwistle, Squire, Geezer, Schacher, John Paul Jones, Sir Paul, Bill Wyman to name a few. Playing few notes does not make you any more special than playing a lot of notes. There are just as many bad bass players that play simple lines as play complex ones.

How do I like my bassists? I like them talented.

if John Deacon is moderatly complex ... then a lot ( and I mean a LOT ) of other bass player are very technical ... I would've add 2 or 3 other cathegories ... Flea level, Les Claypool style of wackiness and extrem bass player ( yes there is a lot of more technical and complex bass playing outside of Jaco )
