I really like this one on my quest for smoke!!!! It plays very nicely with Great Lakes Brewing Company's Christmas Ale out of a glass with sugar and cinnamon on the rim, both fitting the bill after some grilled lamb loin chops and sauteed peas and onions!

XM Blues on the stereo, the wife is out of town until Saturday, the band plays out Saturday night for the twenty-third and last time this year, I only have to work a couple more hours tomorrow for this year, then we're going where it's warm for a couple of months after the first, and today I just picked up a couple of months of part-time work for when we get back, doing what I enjoy doing for way too much money. So it's a mighty fine "me" night indeed! Join me!

Did I mention I like this stuff?

Edit; I will miss my band mates and playing, but I'm taking an acoustic bass, a keyboard, and the Harley trike in the enclosed trailer. so I'll have plenty to do and be ready for when I come back.

As an aside, I just tried the entry level Oban this week. I'm not a fan. Tastes like poorly fermented Dalwhinnie. I'll take a Dalwhinnie 15 any day over this stuff.

I tried the standard Oban too and wasn't greatly impressed. I did however get a chance to try their Reserve and it was much nicer hence buying a bottle. Its not the best Malt i'ce tried but its OK. I bought it mainly beause its where i was having my early retirement weekend away.

Just the 10. It suits the stage I'm at in this quest for smoke; now I know Skye's burned dirt is also acceptable. The store had a very limited selection and it was between it and another; the Talisker was on sale for $8 off. The wife saw the red sale tag and said "you should get that one." Hey, anything to make her happy, you know.

...and nice to hear from this thread again. I have to say myself that after a long run of blended Scotches and other mass-market whiskeys, a shot of Balvenie double wood sure hits the spot!
Looking back now to the OP, I have to admit a fondness for Ardbeg when it comes to Islay malts. I'm sure I'm not alone, but don't plan to sift through 146 pages of thread to see :).

I've been enjoying Ardbeg Corryvreckan lately.

There is just something about Balvenie, and my all time favorites are the 15 year single barrel releases.

Lots of Islay in my collection, most notably the big three, Lagavulin 8, 16 and 12, Ardbeg 10, An Oa and Corryvreckan and Laphroaig 10 and Quarter Cask.

Tried it. Whoah! I like vanilla too, but I wouldn't sip the extract straight. This made me think "peated scotch concentrate".
Love Ardbeg 10, however not a fan of this. Stop up, I have 700 or so ml you're welcome to :).
