Single Malt Scotch!

'Just found this thread. GREAT!
'Love me some Islay Single Malts!
Lagavulin 16 is my fav, as well! 'Good to see my fellow bass players agree!
I also like Laphroaig 10 ('Will have to try the "Quarter Cask"). Laphroaig definitely should be the LAST scotch drank for the evening....
I like Caol Ila, Talisker, and Bowmore ('Will have to try the "Darkest").
But Lagavulin is something else....liquid gold....gorgeous color, aroma, and TASTE!
Anyone have a recommendation for something equaling my Lagavulin?

Equaling? nope. But you'd probably like the Bowmore Darkest, Ardberg 10, laphroaig 18, Quarter Cask and the talisker distiller's ed.

I have an Auchentoshan 18 on the way! I can't wait!!!

Nice one!

Went on a short spree last month, picking up Jura 12 yo (a shop special) and Jura Superstition.

Pay day today so may stop by and pick up something else to add to the collection after work tomorrow. Possibly the Old Pulteney 12, see if there's anything on special, tis getting to the time of year where the good discounts pop up!

What are the laws about shipping alcohol inside Canada? I wouldn't mind shipping you a bottle when that one is done if it's not too complicated.

Not sure there's any reason you can't do this. I know there are stupid import/export laws regarding shipping alcohol between provinces for commercial purposes but I'm not aware there are any restrictions on personal transfer. And, thanks, I may just take you up on it!

Right now I have in my cabinet:

Ardbeg 10 (like drinking a fire)
Lagavulin 16 (my go to)
Balvenie Doublewood (dangerously smooth)
Bunnahabhain (non-peated Islay)
Bowmore Darkest (awesome!)
Glenmorangie
Smokehead (Islay, very peaty, bit rough around the edges)

so it's not like I have a shortage. :D I usually spare the Ardbeg along.

A friend gave me a bottle of The Arran Malt's single cask sherry finish.......cask strength goodness. Recommended for all--it's got Island and Highland features, but it's a beast of it's own......somewhat, perhaps, like a heavier Springbank?

That's got my attention! May have to try and track it down. Thanks for the tip!

Ah! I'll be spending the holidays at my parent's place in New-B, scotch is a bit less expensive there (about 10-15% less than in Quebec). I doubt I'll bring any bottle with me, I'll probably buy an Ardberg for the time I'm there. Maybe a lagavulin caskstrenght 12 years old, I prefer it a bit to the 16.

I like your bottles by the way, I'm a fan of all of them except the Bunnahabhain, never heard of it.

I emptied my Balvenie Doublewood about 2 weeks ago. And the old pulteney a week before that. My cabinet as it sits is:

Glenffiddich 12 (I've had this bottle for a long long time, I just don't like it/drink it)
Glenfiddich 15 (much better than the 12, I actually prefer it to the 18)
Laphroaig 10
Laphroaig QC
Bowmore 12

I intend to upgrade tho, the Balvenie DW will find its way back to my cabinet and once the bowmore is finished I'll replace it with the Darkest. The fiddich 12 will also get replaced by something better someday.

Not too bad for a student :ninja:
