Single Malt Scotch!

I tried a Benromach in Elgin. Its a pretty good malt, but I really have a taste for Glendronach 15 &18, and Glenfarclas 30 right now. Mortlach and Rosebank(when you can find it) are really tasty as well.

Nice one!

I was up at a friends wedding in Elgin, the couple were from Forres (near Elgin) originally, day after the wedding a pile of us went on a tour of the distillery. :)

I can't even get the Glenfarclas 30 over here. I don't really have the budget for a bottle at this point anyways but they don't keep it. 10 to 25 then it jump to the 40.

Scotch sure is expensive in the Quebec province. The Highland Park 18 sells for 149.50, in New-Brunswick the same bottle is 119.99. And I think the US price must be somewhere around 80 or 90? (No particular reason why I pick that scotch, random example.)

I don't know how feasible it would be, but if there was anything special I could always look into how one would go about shipping it from here over.

(though on saying that, a lot of the smaller distilleries also have webshops which will likely post internationally)

That'd be great but I'm not sure the Canadian customs would appreciate. Old 1928 law that forbids importation unless approved by the provincial liquor board control. Now if I were to take a trip, I could bring back two 26oz per person going with me (assuming they would not bring any back for themselves).

NBD! as in new bottle day, don't we love those. I'm at my parent's place in N-B. where scotch is cheaper, so I picked this up:

A personal favorite of mine. Anybody has suggestions I should like? Costs nothing to ask ;) I was thinking about picking up an Isle of Jura Prophecy next, the descriptions says it's quite peaty, never tried it tho.

I had some Kilchoman sherry cask yesterday. It's still very young, maybe 5 years at the outset because the distillery is so new and these are all limited editions, but for $5 a pour at my local pub it was well worth it. Once this cools down a bit it's going to be a special Islay malt.

+1 Or perhaps Laphroaig 18, or Bowmore Darkest.
MMmmmmm... Laphroaig, super peaty and peppery. Personally I dig the smoother Lagavulin, which is every bit as peaty at the same time, but if you want spicy and aggressive, Laphroaig is yer man. That said, the Laphroaig Quarter Cask is much smoother.

Bowmore Darkest is just wonderful. Very dark and full, just enough smooth and just enough edge. Lotsa' stuff going on there. Love it.

As you know, Vic, Lagavulin 16 is my go to peaty scotch. Love it! But I do like the Laphroaig 18 and Bowmore Darkest for some variety. Talisker 18, or the Distiller's Edition, is also pretty darned nice.

just finished a bottle of macallan fine oak 10 yr. i wont buy another macallan.. just not feelin' it for the price (over $50 for that 10 yo!)

have an unopened bottle of old pulteney 12 that i think is up next. i've been on a big bourbon thing all summer.. still have 2 opened bottles to get through..

also wanting to try glenmoarangie original and auchentoshian no age statement.

i wish i had more time to drink. 17 credits and two part time jobs is a blast.

It's funny Lagavullen 16 is my standard, when I try a new scotch my first question is how does it compare to Lagavullen.

The only one that I've enjoyed more is the Talisker Distillers edition (1996) although Laphoig 18 has a lot of good stuff going on. I think my favorite mid-priced scotch is Talisker 10 (which I like better than 18) and Caol Ila 12. And my favorite budget bottles are Glengoyne 10 and Bowmore Legend.
