Single Malt Scotch!

MacCallan 18 is evil stuff. That's a 'drinking' whisky, that is. You can "DRINK" it.
You can burn through some good money and whisky when it's 'drinking" whisky....
All the others are just wonderful to sip and enjoy.
Not Mac 18.
Can't keep it in the cupboard. I have to drink it.
The 25+ are a bit too heady for me.
I even tried the 50 once. Not as good as you'd imagine.

Large glass, fill with ice, large Scotch, fill to brim with water.
Before the purists start in on me, it's a great summer drink. Try it.

i've never had mac 18. i bought a bottle of the 10, eh. really not that good, and a bit pricey for a 10 year old. i guess that comes with the macallan territory. i had the 12 at a bar once and it was very good. also pricey.

how is the 18? i saw in a local liquor store small bottles of mac 18 for something like $9. not bad since the whole bottle is $130, it'd be nice to try.

also i've been really enjoying american rye lately. many people try to compare them to islays, witch to me is completely bogus. nonetheless i'm starting to like it. the quality to be had at the same price range is so much higher within the USA.. weak dollar / strong pound, import tax, ext..

Nice. Congrats. How is it?

I'm no expert but here's my take on it:

The smell is quite spicy and citrusy - almost burns the nostrils it's so spicy. In contrast, the taste starts off quite sweet (almost sickly sweet), but quickly turns to a pretty dark and robust flavor, which hints of fruitiness and even some chocolate notes. The chest burn is unique; I bet this would be great for a cold winter's night. Too bad it's summer and I'm in Texas so it's hot as hell. :p

This is by far the most expensive bottle I've ever purchased. Not quite sure it was worth the price tag, but it's delicious nonetheless.

This was a good weekend, over the last days I've had, in no particular order:
Bowmore Darkest
Lagaluvin 16
Ardbeg 10
Glenmorangie 10
Highland Park 15
Bruichladdich 16 Chateau Margaux cask

Feels like I'm posting alone in here :ninja:

Yeah, I had some friends staying over, all scotch fans. They came with a few nice bottles as you see. The glenmorangie and langaluvin were in a pub.

Last weekend I was in Ottawa and there was this place called The Highlander Pub. This is their selection of scotch:

Yes, the barman was wearing a kilt.

Anybody has experience with the Bruichladdich 16? The Margaux cask was really good, different from what I expect an Islay to be, very different. I'd be curious to see how the other casks are. There are 5 or 6 casks variation I think.

A less well known, but certainly worth a try, distillery is Benromach. Nice malts from one of the smallest breweries in Speyside.

I tried a Benromach in Elgin. Its a pretty good malt, but I really have a taste for Glendronach 15 &18, and Glenfarclas 30 right now. Mortlach and Rosebank(when you can find it) are really tasty as well.

I can't even get the Glenfarclas 30 over here. I don't really have the budget for a bottle at this point anyways but they don't keep it. 10 to 25 then it jump to the 40.

Scotch sure is expensive in the Quebec province. The Highland Park 18 sells for 149.50, in New-Brunswick the same bottle is 119.99. And I think the US price must be somewhere around 80 or 90? (No particular reason why I pick that scotch, random example.)
