Sir psycho sexy emulation?

Remember the Digitech Artist Series pedals? I think there was one for Hendrix, Clapton, Scott Ian and a few others. From the frequency of questions about Flea's sound I think they missed an opportunity by not doing a Flea Artist Series pedal.

on the entire Blood Sugar Sex Magik Album he used a Wal MK1 or MKII. What an amazingly good sounding bass, but they are like 5 grand used...:eek: I've played the song on an FB4 before and it gets close, If your using a GK amp

No clue on how to emulate that on Sir Psycho though. :hmm:

Flea used a Wal bass for most of the songs. He used a 5 String EBMM StingRay for the low B on Funky Monks. On the DVD he was also seen playing a black 4 string headless...probably a Steinberger.

The effect of Sir Psycho is probably the Q-Tron

He uses the Q-Tron live...very easy to pick out if you have ever played one. As stated above on posts #7 and #21 ........also
he def does NOT have the Mutron on his board. There is like a gazzilion pics of his live board on basically every bass forum out there. All YOU had to do was follow your last statement "Yes exactly we should all read before we post" and you would have known the answer before you need to post the question.

I thought everyone was talking about the studio version, which was definitely done with the Mutron with the dying battery. He said it in a guitar player interview that came out right after the album was released.

Anywho, I have an enigma Q-balls, and that's probably the closest you can get to the sound with one single effect pedal because it combines envelope filter with distortion.

Wow you believe everything that is written in magazines?...Lots of reports where they have had the guy sitting right there in front of them and STILL get the gear list or items wrong. This is common knowledge so you can believe what you want.

Dont know why people these days go so much on what other people say (forums) instead of going to the store and ACTUALLY trying the gear our for themselves, its amazing. My store will order anything for me and if i dont like it they take it back, no questions asked. Yours should too...if they dont, than they dont want your business.

He uses the Q-Tron live...if that isnt close enough for you and you cant afford the Mutron off ebay to compare them than why bother???:confused:

You're totally right that you can get pretty close with a Q-tron, and the fact that he plays with one live is certainly a testament to that fact. To answer the OP, if you already have a Q-tron, then putting a distortion pedal before should get that sound you're trying to get. If you want one pedal that can do it, the Enigma Q-balls is an awesome envelope filter. Both the Q-tron and Q-balls were designed by the same guy who developed the Mutron III, so it's no coincidence that they get close to the sound.
