As far as I can tell from the Sire web site none of these new Z range basses are available as Left Handed?

Ok, so I've been lurking in this thread for a little while, as I'm pondering adding a 5-string fretless in a few months.
I was thinking about a P7 or P8, based on our own LowEndLobster's review video. Loved the sound he was getting out of that.
However, I'm also concerned about what I've read here about a very sketchy fretless. Any need to be concerned? Was that a rarity? I was under the impression that overall Sire quality was pretty good.

IIRC, new (bass) models were often released as right handed, fretted models, and the left handed and fretless models were added somewhat later, so it might be too early to know...
For new guitar models, several left handed seem available from the start...
Sound would be one thing, but if memory serves Rickenbacker was successful in thwarting another company's efforts to make one. I don't have the details in front of me... maybe someone else remembers this? I know from time to time you see "Lawsuit era" Rick's on eBay.
I have a V7 G2 four string fretless and it played and looked great as received but after doing a setup on it to my liking (I'm quite picky about setups, especially fretless basses) it seriously sings, loud and proud. The only five string fretless bass I've ever played is my 1995 Carvin LB-75 which also sounds amazing.
Yes I understand what you're saying, I can't comment on Sire though as when I first started looking at their basses they had been about for quite a while and the left hand options were already out there and readily available.
What I liked was that all the models were also available as Left Handed and with them being identically priced to the Right Handed models. I do hope they bring them out as a Left Handed option at a later date, they could be a big seller.

It's a rarity. I have a V5 fretless that's amazing (but 4 string), and I've never heard anything bad about P7 fretless basses. If it wasn't for my desire for this particular style of pickup in the M5 (because I already have a 5er PJ) I would have simply gone for a P7 5er myself. If you're concerned, examine and play the bass first before you buy, I'm just not in that position and very rarely have I had this kind of issue and I have 8 great basses.
edit: also headstock arguments are the worst most unserious thing ever. Can you even call yourself a real musician if you care about that, my eyes glaze over.

Yeah the body shape could only be slightly inspired by the 4003 (see the schecter 4003) but I'm sure there's a market for something that sounds like a Rick but doesn't cost as much.
Me playing my V7-5 FL in 2017 (Gen 1, now sold). I now have a P5-5 and a P7-4 FL (Gen 2). From memory, the tonal difference between the P7 and the V7, both fretless, is thin. The neck of the P7-4, that I suppose is the same as on a V7-4, is an absolute joy to play. However, if I had to get back to a new 5-stringer, I would prefer a P7-5 FL vs. a V7-5, because of the smaller P7 body shape.

Strangely, the P7 and P8 fretless seem to be missing from the recently update Sire web page.
I'm hoping this is a temporary thing; it would be strange for them to discontinue them, IMO.

This link below is for Sire fretless basses (total of 17 no.) that are available from Thomann for immediate or delayed delivery to the USA. They don't list any of P8 FL or P7-5 FL (though the latter is available from other European vendors, but only scarcely, I would say).

I'm eagerly waiting on videos/reviews of the GB series from NAMM. Based on the marketing, it seems they're shooting for a tone I love… but the people making the videos are skipping over it for the Z. Which does sound great…

Happy day, the USPS finally found my tort pickguard. Last scanned Jan 6 in Jacksonville, it finally delivered today.
It's got more orange in it than I expected, more than seems right for a Geddy tribute; but for the moment it's the closest I can get, and I like it a whole lot better than the black. Thanks a bunch @restomod for the swap!

It even has the 3+1 headstock, but, to me, this shorter lower horn is ludicrous...
I have the same feeling about the one reminiscent of a tele body.
