Hmmm, interesting to see if this is actually true, the only reason I sold my V75 that I got last January was the neck was a tad thicker then my preference in 5 string basses it was aggravating a bad disc in my neck.
Like Ursus and i were saying it certainly isn't a night and day difference by any means but the Vintage i received it is noticeable. Pretty sure Anthony Vitti mentions that with the four string as well being thinner then the regular V7 in this video

I've had a crazy few weeks and just wanted to blurt out that I have a new found passion for my V7 5 string. A few weeks ago my dog bit my hand pretty badly causing me to be unable to play bass let alone use my hand for anything. I was dying within a few days to play bass and just couldn't. Well, my hand has since healed and the first thing I did was pick up my 5er and fiddle with the eq until it sounded just right... I'm so glad I didn't part with this bass like I was thinking about doing back a few months ago. It sounds massive and perfect. On I go to playing again...

Glad you're on the mend! I'm always smiling every weekend I'm out playing with the v7 as it always sounds stellar. We play many of the same rooms monthly and I've got a few EQ settings I like to use to get a great full sound that still cuts through. Haven't been let down yet in my year and four months of owning mine!

Just ordered a V7. Can't wait for it to arrive. Hopefully sooner rather than later. I'll post a pic when it arrives.

One question though, does it come with a gig bag? I see some people posting pics and theirs came with one. I checked with Thomann and they didn't list it in the product description.

Yes,
It comes with a gig bag and it's actually pretty nice!

It will come with the gig bag only if you ordered from Sire USA, the ones from Thomann are cheaper but do NOT come with gig bag.

Obvious typo here but I'll clarify anyway: no gigbag when bought from Thomann. Also mine is from there and I got exactly what I wanted :)
I just realized the typo after reading your post a-37, thanks, it has been fixed.
Yes the Thomann basses do not come with gig bag but Thomann offers a nice one for like 17 euro. Here is the link:Invalid Link Removed
It does worth to buy only if you ordering a bass though since the shipping charge will remain the same, otherwise just shipping will be $30.

Anybody else having problem with a boomy B-string with not much definition?

I'm trying out a SUB Ray 5 currently and the B string seems to be a lighter gauge than the V7. Pretty floppy but i must say all the notes on the B-string sound great. The E on the B-string sounds almost identical to the open E string

I have not had this problem. Check your EQ settings on the BASS side, and make sure that you're not setting it too high. I've found that this preamp doesn't need to be tweaked too high to show it's colors.

anyone get the sire tuner key specs ? I want to swap them out because 2 (yes 2) have fell apart on me now. I believe from rubbing against the inside of the gig bag during transport.
The bass is deadly the hardware just plain sucks lets be honest but hey it met price point .. any help would be appreciated
I emailed Sire for the specs and nothing back yet.
i don't want to drill new holes so I am trying to find a good drop in replacement Goth 70;s style naturally

NBD!

Sorry for the suck a$$ lighting in my basement. Anyway, I came home to a nice surprise from The Boss. She's sneaky too (I may need to keep a closer eye on her). Talk about a good two days- yesterday I went to Andrew Gouche's clinic and today, came home from work to a new toy?? They compliment each other nicely, what do you think?
