I do know that M2s and V3s are generally ignored

M5 IMO is the best value for what you get in terms of the M series. You get everything but the veneered top and headstock as the M7, arguably better electronics and hardware than the M2 with the price right in between the 2.

This pretty little thang is just a couple of days old, and man, am I liking it...
The awray of sounds is huge... That swamp ash gives some nice tone foundation to then add to with the pre amps choices... Everything that is written about this preamp seems to be true and doesn't disappoint (that's after a coup!e of days of putting the bass through its paces)...
I really like the rounded edges on the neck, very comfortable...
Does anybody know what the wood is on the back cavity n battery covers? Ebony?
just checked out Side's website... They're sold out of a lot of models!!

I remember I was able to get in on the second run of the v7 5 strings…got the white with alder body/rosewood FB. Got it at the end of May/beginning of June 2015. IIRC it was $500 with the gig bag. I coulda swore Sires pledge was to never raise prices….

Can anyone confirm if the Sire P7 (5-string) gen2 has a dual-action truss-rod? That "no-man's land" in the middle would concern me if I wasn't sure. Planning on switching from rounds to flats.

I thought I read it was dual-action, but can't find confirmation now.

A few weeks ago I picked up a used 2nd generation V9. So freaking awesome! I guess that makes me a member. Got a great price on it on the GC used site. It's absolutely pristine….not a mark on it. Anyways…..where can I get a clear pick guard? I know they come with them new. Any of you guys have one you aren't using that you'd be willing to part with?

Thanks but dang $75??? I wish Sire offered it on their site. My best luck will probably getting one from an owner who has no intention of mounting theirs as it comes free with the bass new regardless.

I checked with Sire because I was certain that the new necks on the updated 2nd gen models feel different to my 2nd gen V7 but the standard (non-vintage) models have always had a 9.5" fretboard radius and the neck profile hasn't changed! The updated models only have a different bridge - modern S as opposed to the high-mass bridge.

I was sure it was certain it felt different but maybe it's a psychological thing.

All they need to do in the next release is install high-quality light weight tuners

Is it true that Sire basses have Ernie Ball strings now, instead of D'Adario? I just bought a V5 with Ernie Balls. I thought all Sire basses from the factory were always equipped with D'Adario EXL-165...?

Thank you, I'd have never thought of that. Just sent them an e-mail, here's hoping they can accomodate, despite the fact I won't be buying from them.

I did not. They told me to wait until they get stock and look at whatever's posted there. So I went a different route and got something else.

BTW just wrapped up my unboxing. I got 3 boxes from Sire (one bass was for my compadre Dale), I was lucky enough to unbox the two correct basses and not Dale's! (they weren't labeled)

WOW !!! So Sire now makes passive P basses both 50's and 60's style ! COOL !!! I can only imagine how good they feel. Dare I ask or say that the red one would be on par with a boutique P ? I mean if they have the SIRE DNA in them, then logic would dictate that assumption ? Yeah, I know the saying ... Assume...
