So does it say so on the headstock, too? I thought Sire would only produce in Indonesia.

My M5 is with my luthier for a setup. The only headstock images I can find say Made in Indonesia. So does it say so on the headstock, too? I thought Sire would only produce in Indonesia.
I found another couple of stores that list the M5 as being made in Korea, though. My M5 is with my luthier for a setup. The only headstock images I can find say Made in Indonesia.
It is not outside the realm of possibility that GC is full of s#it.

Could very well be.The Sire company headquarters is based in Korea. Pretty sure all manufacturing is done in Indonesia. Maybe that's their mistake?
You misread me BADLY if that is the takeaway you got from my post.
1. These issues are not "endemic", these are the common issues but they are not common. The overwhelming majority of Sire owners are obviously satisfied, based on the growth of the company, the comments in this and other threads, the reviews, and their ability to raise prices even before COVID.
2. No, a Sire buyer should NOT be "prepared to spend more $$ when purchasing, to fix these problems", because it's clear that Sire stands behind the product, and that these issues are not frequent enough to matter. Literally the only thing most buyers do is change strings to their preference and maybe change the knobs (and even that is less of a concern now with the new knobs), and the only knobs were fine, just ugly.
3. As others have said, the percent of Sires with issues seems no higher than other brands, and the problems are no different from what other brands have. Doesn't mean they like the problems or that Sire shouldn't work to stop having them, but it means that this isn't some Sire-specific issue either.

So, they make the sale!! That's how the free market works!! Yeeehhhaaa!
That they can get you the bass from across the pond as fast or faster & cheaper... Heck yaaa
If you would indulge me...
1st half of 1800's Merino sheep/wool dominated Vermont, which was virtually clear cut of its forest to make grazing fields for the sheep ( wood used for potash)
Very little dairy in VT at that point...
All the shipping to NYC was done by water way... The new technology of the day railroad was starting to grow... Vermonters rejected this new technology... So, they built the rail system out to Midwest -- Minnesota & Wisconsin, if memory serves me, and started the merino sheep business out there...
Via railroad, those Midwestern sheep farmers could ship their wool faster and cheaper than their competition in Vt...
The bottom drastically fell out of the VT sheep industry-- I think over 80% of the farms tanked... Only those who were diverse with dairy farming survived, hence the origins of dairy agra-business in VT
Also this plunged VT into a sever depression, that has never really ended... As they say, when the Great Depression hit in 1929, VT did not notice, because the economy was already that bad in the state...
Even today, the biggest employer in the state is the state gov't...
As an aside, The state was not fully electrified until 1968! Go figure...
So, you all can figure how this relates to those of you getting your axes overseas...
Hoping you dig your new axes when the arrive!! I'm envious of having a Sire arsenal!!
Ill just enjoy my sole M5--- for now!
Plop plop. Fizz fizz ...oh what a relief it is!!!I have my Thomann-supplied U5 and M5 now, so I’ve got my bases covered regarding scale lengths, playability, and tone-tone-tone. GAS is abated. For now.
What is the second Sire thread...
