Sitting at the bar alone

Thoroughly good, George.

So here I am at the bar alone. I'm on a work trip by myself so figured I'd check out a local brewery or two while I'm here.

There are like three other couples at the bar though. They probably think I'm some weird loner ya know? What would you do?

Sit there like you don't have any friends, strike up conversation, keep staring at the sports on TV?

I've done that enough times to know that it's no big deal....drink your beer and watch the TV, no one's gonna think you're a weird loner unless you look creepy

I'm out if town on a family emergency and last night I stopped at the Applebee's by my hotel to get some grub for my wife and kid at the room. I sat at the bar and had a couple while waiting. The Spurs/Heat game was on. There was a guy eating wings at the bar! Around us, people sat at tables...eating!

I went back to my room and pondered life's meaning. And ate some chicken wonton tacos. Pretty crazy night.

I travel a lot - when I'm at the bar, I usually have a paperback in hand to read. It's one of the pleasant moments while traveling. I don't need company - I've normally had plenty of that all day.

I'm never bored when I have a book to read. And I ALWAYS have a book to read. When I travel, if I'm near the end of one, I take a backup book.
