I am looking for a small device that would allow me to practice at the kitchen table with headphones on. Something that can be attached to my mobile or laptop, where I simply can plug in my bass and headphones and play along.
Must be small, and best-case: battery-powered (Or USB powered).

Does anyone know such a device? The solutions I found up to now are more or less useless for use with mobile phones especially.

Small analog mixer. Rolls makes nice ones with small footprint. Or possibly one of the hybrid ones with Bluetooth.

You may need an adapter to connect the phone to mixer - eg, lightning to stereo jack.

Yes, the Amplug is great, too, and much cheaper than my suggestions.

For some reason I was thinking the OP wanted a digital connection to laptop/mobile, but that wasn't actually in the request, so an Amplug is probably the way to go.

Vox Amplug will do the job well, and cheaply, and sounds surprisingly good.

It doesn't have Bluetooth, though, so if your phone (or laptop) doesn't have a headphone jack, it won't cover that side of things.

I use the iRig HD2 for this exact purpose when I travel. Works great and sounds reasonable ... in my experience, the better your headphones, the better the overall sound from these small/portable devices.

Thanks for all your replies - I was in the studio all weekend, no time to respond

The iRig does not what I want. It requires an app on the phone and didn't work well with my cheap-ass mobile, and cannot be used with (my) laptop, so that thing is out of the equation.

The NUX mighty plug and Fender Micro look promising. Using bluetooth was no requirement, but it makes it even easier to use.
I will have a look at both, thanks so much for the advice!

Use it as audio source to play along - so either phone or laptop.

Thing is, I do not want to install a whole setup when I want to play along for 15-20 minutes. I want to plug sometthing in my bass, put headphones on and maybe put a cable between laptop/phone and that magic device to have somethingto play along to. But that's it. I found solutions using little mixers, but mostly they need additional power supply, or do not provide headphone output, or this, or that... the iRig2 solution didn't work for me, neither.
