Small cab preference

I have an EA 1X10 and it is a 4ohm cab rated at 300 watts. probably a misprint so I treat it as a 200 watt cab. It is the Whizzy M-Transmission line series. The cab has tilt back legs. Very nice cab, not made anymore. I am getting the last driver replacement from Golihur. 1X12 can be loud - I also have 2 1x12 EA. Lee Sklar uses EA cabs maybe not anymore. but he did until COVID for sure. They can take a beating

Another vote for Barefaced cabs , great sound , loud and no muddy bottom . Buy one now before the prices go up.......worth it !

OP-I get the impression you are all in on brand loyalty, but if you can see your way clear to deviating from Aguilar and have the budget for it, there is a world of other cabs out there

As per Lomo; Modular is the way to go! Currently, Im using GR Bass. However, my former rig was all Bergantino. Using a variety of cabs, I could mix and match according to whatever the situation required. I actually have two single 8ohm
EX 112s, one 8 ohm CN210, One 4 Ohm AE 212 as well as an 8 ohm AE 112. And a head I can run any combination on.
I will say running 4 12’s at once was fun. I also ran 6 / 12’s once …….. briefly….

2x10 Or 1x 15 ??
Which would you choose and why?
I’m thinking Aguilar .
I’m looking for something also that will pair well with my 2x12 cab .

If you like your 2x12, then a second 2x12 is the safest bet.

Second safest: a 1x12 of the same make and model. Best results achieved if your 2x12 is 4 ohms, the 1x12 is 8 ohms (and your amp can handle 2.67 ohms). That way, each driver will receive the same amount of power.

Having said all that: "mutt" rigs of "mismatched" drivers aren't necessarily a bad thing. I've had mixed success with them. Sometimes the combination was 'meh', but other times the cabs complimented each other. I quite enjoyed running a punchy Ampeg 2x10 with a deep sounding Mesa Boogie 2x10: best of both worlds, I thought. Of course it's a crapshoot, no way to know until you try for yourself.
