I think it's funny that people keep making amp suggestions even though the O.P. has already made his decision and actually already purchased the 2nd amp....

Hmm, in your original post you literally say "the cheaper the better," and "it's just a backup." so I'll beg to differ, but congratulations on landing on a "backup" that costs more retail than your original amp. I didn't use the term cheap, I am normally more of a boutique buyer, but find nothing about GK to be cheaply designed or built. Hey man, if you want to spend double on a used piece of gear without even trying the other one that's actually easily available to try, I can't stop you, such is Talkbass. I might question why the tecamp 900 is so easily available used, when it's pretty hard to find more than one (if even one) of any model of any used Epifani, EA, Phil Jones, Bergantino, etc... but that's for another thread I suppose.

I've got a TC RH450 that weighs 7 lbs, fits in my cord tub & is a kick-ass little amp for club gigs. It doesn't get the grind of a tube amp, but it's extremely versatile. Things I like: built-in compression (a little goes a long ways though) built-in tuner, 3 programmable pre-sets that save every setting except master volume, & the sweepable q point on all 4 EQ knobs. I switch between a P-bass & a Rick overy few songs in one of my cover bands & the pre-sets + foot pedal (an extra 100 bucks) makes the gig easy.
I haven't taken the Mesa Boogie D-180 out of the garage in over a year.
if the RH 450 isn't loud enough (which I can't imagine) they make a 750 version.

I think when it came down to it I was looking for the smallest loudest best bang for my buck amp head. Plus if I ever decise to sell it I won't lose out much money. I've played the Puma before and was quite impressed.

It will be interesting to get your thoughts on the Puma as compared to the Magellan.
I really like the Puma, especially the form factor and weight, but I think it's power rating might be a bit optimistic. I mean it's got a lot of power, more than I need, but it seems like other similarly rated amps (like the Magellan) might have more power.

Easy - number of units sold. Tecamp sold a fair number of amps a few years back. EA has largely fallen off the face of the earth, Epifani is niche at best, Berg is more expensive and Phil Jones is kind of its own thing.
If you go by TB classifieds and consider high number of a certain brand or model for sale to be a negative criterion, then Fender must really suck

I assumed that there were may have been more dealers, I actually had a Tech cabinet back in the day (a perk since my boss/store owner was German). No, it's not an end all be all indication, but still, seeing that many of a particular boutique brand and model, that as far as I know has been sold directly for years, is a little unusual. It's not like they take up a lot of space... and I think you need another face color for the Fender comparison, aha I've found it!
And yes, I know you were joking

I've played this head through my F112 when I was trying it out to see if I wanted to purchase that Fearless cab. Needless to say I was sold on both the cab and the head.
Are you saying that a Puma captures the Demeter sound or am I reading too much into this?
Nope two different sounds, and both excellent! I personally just prefer the Puma at this time in my tonal journey. IMO, the Puma provides more booty in the low end while retaining clarity in the high mids and highs. The Demeter is sweeter and more extended in the highs, but I'm willing to sacrifice a bit of that for the extra booty.
