Small Combo with DI?

I've been using a Rumble 100 for about 4 months. It's great for home use and small room reversal. The light weight is amazing for grab & go. But I also find the tone lacking and the DI less-than-awesome.

Ideally, I would suggest a preamp/DI that fits in your case (Tone Hammer, VT Bass DI) and a small combo like Rumble 40 for reference.

what's the most important feature ... weight ,.. size ,... really low watts ..??

my Ibby P3110 ... is about a 1 ft cube w/DI ...23 lbs max ... it's 200 watts , has ext spkr jack, so another 8 ohm cab give 250 ... turn the master volume down until it seems like 50 watts ..!!!??! picked it up used for around $250 ...

i looked long and hard at the Phil Jones bass cub ... looks very cool ... but $500 ... not ..!!

DI is not so great huh? I'll probably never use it on mine anyway, its more for home practice. I wonder if it would be better with a simple direct box if you would need that option? You know the type without the preamp? Then use the amp like a monitor. I still have a direct box I paid about 20.00 for back around 1990.

If 40 watts are enough and you want high quality and as lighteight as it goes:
The Markbass Micromark. It's incredible for the size.

AMP OUTPUT POWER:
60W RMS @ 4 ohms / 45W RMS @ 8 ohms
FREQUENCY RESPONSE: 60 Hz to 8 kHz
WEIGHT: 14.55 lbs / 6.6 kg
WIDTH: 10.63 in. / 27 cm
HEIGHT: 10.63 in. / 27 cm
DEPTH: 10.43 in. / 26.5 cm

Man, so many great choices! Thank you all for the suggestions. I had assumed that little combos with DI outs would be pretty rare.

I think I will just keep my eyes peeled on the used market, and if one of your suggestions comes up make a grab for it. The Ampeg, GK, and Ibby promethean stuff all looks like exactly what I want

Ibanez Prometean- can hold its own without PA support in small to medium rooms-drummer OK if they play with control and no loud guits

Line 6 Studio 10- much smaller, but sounds decent- I use for gigs with acoustic PNO or choral rehearsals
