Looking forward to mine arriving... Trutron 3X was too clean sounding to me and expect the micro to be the same. The clip of the Joshwah though reminded me of the old Mutron IIIs as well as my Mini Q-Tron and Fwonkbeta (which would have been my recommendations of the OP didn't ask for down sweep!).

Missed the down sweep. This one doesn't do it. The overdrive circuit in it is very pleasant and useful so if you want dirt, it's got dirt.
I can't avoid mentioning the MF101 for dirty filters, but that is not only huge but it's almost a whole separate class of thing.
Oh damn, now I REALLY can't wait til it shows up! Wonder if it'll cop the mf101 better than the xero...
That surprises me, but I'm only judging from demos. I haven't had the pleasure of trying the Tru-Tron, but various demos make it sound like it's got a decent amount of drive in it.
There's a JoshWah in my future. I don't know exactly when, but...there's a JoshWah in my future.
Since it has the optional separate gain knob it can be pushed to overdrive, but it doesn't sound particularly great doing it.

Agree with you there Filterfunk. There's a huge amount of drive to the Tru Tron, especially if you engage the preamp, and play just under on or at parity on the Mu setting, that's when you can make the Tru Tron sound really dirty. IMO the drive on it is the most powerful I've yet come across in an envelope filter. Without the preamp engaged I'd say it's just a teensiest touch cleaner than an original Mu-Tron.
+1. Really having a blast with the MXR M82. You can really tweak a lot of good things out of it. I know its not going to be everyone's cup of tea, but give it a little workout and I think you'll dig it. Heck, I'm considering a second one just to have at the ready with a different setting for different parts of songs.
So I currently use the MXR BEF because i dont use an envelope filter very often and for what i need the MXR fits the bill well enough. That being said the keeley neutrino is like the mxr but more tweakable with respect to the pass of the filter. Ive played the neutrino while at keeleys workshop (he is a really great guy and a great effectsmaker for what it's worth). I loved the neutrino and if my mxr breaks i will immediately buy one. however i dont use the envelope filter enough to justify swapping the mxr with it. Only thing about the neutrino i domt like is that it does not have a blend like the MXR. (That may be the m82's best quality) i would say give the neutrino a try and if you dont like it their resale value on reverb or TB will be almost what you paid for it. You also stand a good chance of finding someone to trade a different filter pedal for the neutrino.

Hi! I've noticed that Mooer has released two new envelope filters. I don't know if they are already available or if has anyone tried one so far. It's the Mooer Envelope, that they say it's analogue, and the Mooer @wah that's digital and has lp option and a switch to chand from auto-wah to envelope.

Interested to hear about those Mooers on bass! Digital is not an issue for me, I used to snub them thinking you needed analog for a juicy filter sound, but the Mr Black Fwonkbeta is digital and has proved me wrong, it sounds more 'analog' than any of the actual analog filters I've tried!
I got my Broughton JoshWah in too the other day and it gets my heartiest recommendation. I prefer it to the Mutron 3X, Meatball, Q-trons, all the 3Leaf stuff and various others... it's tied with the Mr Black for the top spot for me. PM @AzureSkies if you want one, he only deals direct and doesn't have a website.
