Small(er) form envelope filter?

I've sent him a message yesterday about the Josh wah. I'm waiting for him to reply. One thing does the Josh Wah change the direction of the sweep?

Done a bit more A/B-ing today (the joys of working from home!) and the Joshwah is definitely better behaved and controlled when playing down low and has more dynamic range and control on offer. It has now moved into my top spot.

It does not do a downsweep, and that, along with an attack control and blend is the only thing I would possibly want to add. But if you want a custom one with those options I'm sure he would oblige.

If you like the DOD 400. There are some clones out there but they cost more than the new version of the DOD 440. If you can soldier, consider making one using a Kit from BYOC, they have a clone of the vintage DOD 440, and a selection of small bass pedals. And they have easy to follow instruction and illustrations for their kits.

I really like the EQD Spatial Delivery. Up, Down and Sample and Hold filters, lots of adjustment, including a sweepable LPF, BPF, HPF. 125B enclosure w/ top-mounted jacks and a soft-relay switch.

Hey all,

Been really trying to pack my board and all these large envelope filter pedals are giving me a headache.
...
So what you got for recommendations for a boss sized or smaller filter?

Needs other than size: mid ranged voicing, plays nice with fuzz, usable down drive.
... and the DOD 440. I'm also all ears if the newer protons are better

In addition to the BYOC version, other sources for DOD 440 clone DIY PCBs:

Mad Bean "Sawse" — fits in a 1590G or 1590B
General Guitar Gadgets EF440 — 1590N1 (125B), maybe a 1590B
Grind Custom's "Mirror Ball" — 1590N1 (125B), maybe squeeze it into a 1590B

There are probably a few more DIY ones out there, but Delyk for the win. Have a buddy solder it up for you, or the local repair tech.

I doubt there's enough room in the LB for external pots, just onboard trimmers of the Range & Level, but...
a 1590A is totally doable with regular pots, and a 1590B could be had with top jacks.

Here's my review of the Mooer Envelope:

Great bass tone! Not only do you not lose low end, the pedal seems to make the bass tone a little more focused. It must be a low pass filter; it doesn't sound like band pass mixed with dry signal. There's a mild volume jump when engaged. The sweep is more "woh, wah" than "wow, waaoow." The big, nasty, Bootsy sweeps aren't in here, but it has some nice vocal tones. Also, it only sweeps up, not down. It's not as resonant as I prefer, but it can get pretty sharp. I keep the resonance dimed, but I'd prefer to have the resonance go too far, then dial it back to my taste.

The Mooer's sweep changes rather dramatically from one end of an octave to another, even with equal signal strength going into each note (EDIT: A lot of this depends on how the controls are set). I know because I tried it with a line-level keyboard that's not velocity-sensitive. The only other envelope filters I've tried that did the same are the Chunk Systems Agent 00Funk Mark II and the Korg Synthepedal. I rather like it, because it gives the Mooer more personality, IMO.

I heard the Funkzilla was a little light in the low end department but the Funk Lite isn't just a cut down clone and has its own sound, one I like from the demo I heard.
