smallest 4ea KT88 bass amp?

I just remembered that I read Alex from Science Amps is going to redesign the Mother head to be 24" wide instead of 28" so it will fit on a "regular" bass cab. It'll probably gain some depth though. But's a 4xKT88 HiWatt based design with the Matamp FAC control added to the tone stack and it's two channels.

OIC - just wondered if it might omit certain size options for you, though it doesn't appear that there are a great many options regardless.

'Tis a thing a beauty! After I sell my SVT and Bass-Drive I'm ordering a Mother as the Hellhawk I have is glorious! I emailed Alex directly about the new dimensions of the mother. New dimesnions are 11" tall, by 11" deep and 24" wide. And he's already making them like that. BTW.

EDIT: He just sent me a pic of a resized Mother he built for a customer. Looks a little compressed. There's also going to be a third handle in the center. I'm going to request the two handles be kept on the sides of mine though, seems like it would make lifting the head onto an SVT 8x10 so much easier than it is now.

Mike Arnopol was telling me about a cool little amp last week made by Kevin Shaw. It offers Mercury Magnetics iron, 4 - KT88's, 150 watts, with 6SL7 tubes in the preamp. It's 23" wide, 10" tall, 9" deep, and weighs 45 lbs. It says that the DI signal is "after the output transformer". Not sure if it is tapped off of the OT or what... By rights that will be running on the speaker outputs.

Science is in Portland, OR or somewhere around Seattle. IIRC when my Hellhawk shipped the invoice said Portland on it, but the amp shipped from somewhere Washington. If you have any questions about the amps or anything, serious, just contact Alex he's a super cool guy. I usually talk to him once a week about an amp question. Do let him know I steered you in his direction, his business it totally continued by word of mouth.

Nice small box, and not that heavy. Standard transformer by Magnetic Components. The amp has a fan to help cooling. Smaller than the Reeves, but every bit as high quality.

I had the Prodigy for a minuet, and sold it off. I found it to actually be a little too small - as in it felt cramped like everything was too close together. Also found too much break up, too early, on the low notes. The high strings would stay clean, but get down to a low G-E and it would just break up like crazy with the gain at 1:00 or past. The Jaguar has a very nice layout, while still being small. It will break up with the gain cranked, but more clean headroom than the Prodigy, a nicer sounding break up, and it breaks up more evenly across the strings - not just the low notes.
