Mike that's looking good! How will you cut out the neck, so that the body end is precision flat?

I will do that with a router and the neck template, since both sides are square to the fretboard face.
I rough cut both necks from the blank today with a bandsaw. Looks like I can get a Uke or Mando neck out of the left over piece.

That has to be one of the most frightening shop tools I've ever seen.

Have you ever seen a jointer, a table saw or a router?
How is it frightening? You put wood in and stand back. The wood slowly comes out the other side. There are no saw blades or jointer knives spinning...
my big interest is in what you do for the pu. any ideas yet???
I have been looking around for a "not too expensive" pickup to use for the under bridge pickup. It needs to be less than 3/4" tall and 1/2" or 5/8" would fit in the cavity better. I posted a question in the pickups and electronics section of TB yesterday but no responses so far.

I know a couple of guys that wind pickups and if I don't find a pickup that will fit in there pretty soon I will make some bobbins and send them out to be wound.
The "neck" (bass or middle?) pickup I was planning on some kind of soap bar pickup. I have a couple of the Mosrite P-90 looking bass pickups I might use... depends on funds at that point. I am sinking more money into these 2 scroll basses than I planned on but oh well... I'm having fun...
