SMV extorted by Spanish Border Patrol!

They are not being ignored is just that their explanation doesn't cover "pretending" a violation exists when it doesn't. This is why the occupants of the bus feel like they're being ripped off even if they will be reimbursed by the bus company. It's not really the money, it's the methods.

And what difference does it make if someone has been to Western Europe recently?

So you know for a fact that a violation here doesn't exist and that the police are pretending. Explain please with your encyclopaedic knowledge of European traffic laws.

As for the methods, it has been pointed out in this thread countless times THAT IN CERTAIN PARTS OF THE WORLD IT IS NORMAL TO HAVE TO PAY ON THE SPOT FINES!!!

As for whether someone has been to Western Europe or not, surely that's pretty obvious, or does local knowledge count for nothing these days? I have never been to New York, and therefore will say nothing about the state of law enforcement and police corruption there as to be honest, I know very little about it.

And you know he's wrong because of what? You were there? You saw the records that the driver said they didn't even check?

Ouf course they didn't, that is why the driver knows that he is going to be fined for an offense commited 3 weeks ago and that is why Victor says in the video description:

The border police questioned our two drivers, made them produce all kinds of records

You may think that those "all kind of records" are "UFO TOFU", "School Days", "M2", etc. :D:D:D

So what do you think is true here? Do you think that all of the occupants of the bus have it all wrong? And if so, you base that on what?

Great question. I don't know so much about this that I think it would be foolish to make the assumptions many of you have. I don't know how they read the driver register. I don't see anything that points to it being impossible or even highly unlikely that this wasn't a legit stop. I don't have a problem with the way I've been told they can legally access a fine. By people who may actually know how things work there. I'm also not trying to overlay American law on theirs as even being remotely relevant. I don't know that Vic's legal assessment was accurate.

That's what I get when I view this episode. IF and when more actual FACTS are presented that lean in the direction you think it must've happened, I'm perfectly willing to be swayed. So far the leaning is based on a very loose foundation IMO... unless you're seeing something I didn't see in those videos.
:D

Let's turn the question around; You know for a fact that a violation does exist? The driver sure doesn't think it's true.

I'm not questioning that, it happens in towns here in the US.

In the current scenario living in Western Europe is different than being on the bus. The thing is you can live your entire life in a country and never see or experience corruption, but that doesn't mean it isn't there.

The driver sure did actually, he admitted that he'd done wrong, he just thought that he couldn't get done for it when he wasn't actually driving.

The issue isn't whether or not the stop is legit, it's whether the findings are and the people who know how things work there can't speak to the dispute which centers around whether there was a violation or not, becuase even if they live closer to the location than I or other do, they weren't on the bus or on the ground.

:D

I'm open to new information as it becomes available but for now I see a group of folks on the bus who seem to think something shady went down and the core of this feeling is that they think the paper work and rests were all in order.

As far as seeing something you haven't seen in the video; I'm seeing what you're seeing, but the question is did you hear what I heard? To me at 5:00 in of the first video the driver makes two points:

1. That they don't have to check him because he's not driving .
2. That they know he's over without even checking.

The driver sure did actually, he admitted that he'd done wrong, he just thought that he couldn't get done for it when he wasn't actually driving.

What video did you see or hear that on? Certainly not on the two posted, the drivers states what the officers are claiming.
