So called Worlds fastest bass player

I've seen this one before. I typically dont like to rail on other players, but.... Just as I recall, it sounded like a randomly looped series of farts... Dude has got some serious health issues, as He can barely sit in that chair and play. Honestly, I was waiting for him to pass out at any given moment during the video.

Was the video interesting? No, not even close. Some people want to be the fastest for some reason. Is it necessary to criticize his musicianship based on one video? The video wasn't supposed to show his musicianship, it showed his proficiency at a technical exercise. Part of my practice is playing things that aren't particularly musical, but that isn't the intent of the exercise. Sometimes it is improving finger strength and dexterity, sometimes it is practicing syncopation, sometimes it is just running scales up and down the fret board.

I'll reserve judgement of his musicianship until I hear him in a musical situation, and I recommend you do the same.

First of all, I don't think the question was whether the guy can play or not as it's obvious that he can play the instrument. The video, however, was titled "Worlds Fastest Bass Player"!! So the debate here is whether he is indeed the "World's Fastest Bass Player"! Not his musicianship!

Wanna know if he can play? Well, here you go!

Wasn't really criticizing his musicianship - just criticizing what he presented to us in that video. And based on that video, the only thing we have to judge him on, his tone sounded farty, and the runs were not clean. Super "fast"? so what?

Also, if he didn't want to be judged on the basis of the video, he wouldn't have put out the video and called it "the world's fastest bass player."

I recommend that if he can't stand the heat - get out of the kitchen.

I don't like the whole "fastest" anything. But I agree. Guitars have the same competition, and I'm sure there are thousands of guitar players making the same comments about the fastest guitar player.

As for musicality, they didn't preface it with the "fastest, most musical bassist". And the Vic and Steve Bailey links....they're slapping and tapping, soooo is it the same?

Search for Lake Trash on youtube and you'll see this guy can indeed play very musically. If you listen and still rail this guy, you're just trolling.

this +10.

He may be a great piece to his band musically, who knows?....but playing bass doesn't mean you're cooking fajitas.....music is part of bass playing and we as players need to perfect our craft by learning more theory and more about music in general.....who cares who can put a random set of fast farty notes together? Music is about moving people and yahoos like this are spreading their bukkake over the net and making real bassists look like crap because they lump us together....

I personally don't like to criticize other players, but if you come out ont he net and yell I"M THE FASTEST EVER and you actually are the worst fartiest player, then you open yourself up to ridicule.
