Well, this will be my second custom and I'm VERY confident that it will be MUCH better than the first. I've been in contact with Mike (mikeyswood) for a few months now and am very impressed by his knowledge and build quality (I've actually had one of his builds in hand). I've come up with a design and will be putting some funds into his hand within a few weeks to get things started. On a side note, ModulusAcacia (J. Kennedy Guitar Repair) will be defretting my T.L. Martinson custom as it will not intonate above the 12th fret. I'm confident that this bass will actually be playable thanks to he and Mike. I'm very thankful for TB and the help I've been able to find here.

Here's a rough outline for my bass:
Body wings: Mahogany with flamed maple top
Neck: 35" scale, assymetrical, neck through, maple and wenge, 24 medium jumbo frets
Hardware: Gold Hipshot A style bridge, Hipshot modern style tuners, Gold knobs
Pups: Nordy MM5.3 in MM position, Nordy Big Split 5 in bridge position
Pre: 3 band Nordy

NIce - Mike will build you one heck of a great bass...congrats !

You are welcome to commission your own. ;) This is shaping to be a thread to document thought to finish.

Chris - I will play a bit more with the scale of the headstock; the body is already ~14". There is something there that's just not right with me. I am glad to hear that you are happy with the curves of the body. There will be some chamfers along the arcs to reveal the accent layers and match the exposures that you have in the original drawing.

I'm cool with the headstock. It looks as though this will become Mike's signature headstock design. I may be wrong on that but he's used it a few times, that I've seen, already. Plus, there's a certain :cool:Koooool:cool: to the reverse.
