So long...it's been a fun ride.

I feel Sundogue's pain. Just a few weeks ago I made the decision to close down my band for an undetermined length of time. Mostly due to the responsibility connected with helping in the care of my aging mother-in-law who lives with us full-time. Other reasons would include the closing of several of my favorite places to perform, the increasing reluctance of club owners to pay a decent scale, the increasing difficulty of getting people to come out and risk a DUI, and the sad fact that the Blues-rock music I love to play doesn't seem to draw the public as well as classic rock (at least in my area). Also, I no longer accept work as a sideman and have sworn off Blues jams. That's the bad news.

The good news is that I will be keeping all of my bass related gear, my PA, and my accessories. And when opportunity allows it I will practice and learn new tunes at home. One problem I fortunately have not had to face in recent years is working with jerks. My guitar player and I have been together for eleven years now and I've been with my drummer for seven years. We've had our minor differences but always have worked them out peaceably. They are unique, but cool dudes. Hopefully, our band will rise from the ashes someday in the near future.

The plan to play acoustic guitar sounds like a good one. At the end of the day...if Sundogue is happy with his decision, we're happy. Goodbye and may the force be with him. :)

Yeah, there are just SO many factors that went into my decision, and it's been a decision 5 years in the making anyway, so it wasn't as if it was a rush to judgement or some kind of impulsive reaction to any one thing.

Since I've been playing guitar I don't miss playing bass one bit. In fact even when I had ERB's, I played them more like guitar, so the switch makes more sense for me.
