So Many People Are Selling Their Foderas

Just like anything else. people get tired of playing the same thing and want to try something new. or financial situations, priorities change. There it is. one simple word for whatever reason CHANGE!!!

Its pretty obvious to me.

I think I was first to notice all the Foderas on evil bay & posted on the Fodera thread.

Last night I counted 8 on the first 2 pages sorted by 'highest first' price.

There are also 5 or 6 here on TB a few are the basses.

But, the reason is the opposite of the intuitive.

Dealers & some collectors have been holding back because of the bad economic environment. They've been wanting to sell these basses for several yrs but knew better than to list them.

Now with Foderas higher price list and s perceived improving economy, they are testing the market. Pent up supply I think they call it.

I think that there is NO BASS....NONE ...worth 10k if you are not at least making that money from the playing you put on the bass. I have a peavey Cirrus 5 string and i swear that from playing and hearing Fodera's i dont see 8g difference in quality. I have played concerts where othe bassist had foderas...and not one bit difference in qualit of tone/sound etc...

We already have a thread that beats up on Foderas - I think I stop believing in expensive basses!

I don't think we need 2.

I own a Cirrus or two. They don't sound like Foderas. The Cirrus often plays about as good as a Fodera, I'll give ya that. Just try getting different pickups and scale lengths from Peavey, I dare ya.

Good for you, then don't expensive basses. This is america, you have the freedom to buy what you like.

I also think the prices of Foderas has gone up quite a bit over the last few years. One poster recently said he saw a Fodera he sold here a year or three ago pull 3 grand more recently than he sold it for back then. So if you have a few nice basses you don't play anymore for whatever reason, and see one is now worth maybe twice what you paid for it, why not take the money? That doesn't reflect on the quality of the bass.

I think people are sellin' their Foderas 'cause they can buy 60 SX basses with the profit. Then, they can mod them SX basses and sell 'em fer a profit so they can buy TWO doggone Foderas, then they will have a back up Fodera for their main Fodera. Yeah, that's it... that's the ticket.

Either that or what Jim777 said, which I guess maybe makes a little more sense...
