This is off topic, but I am very much looking forward to the arrival of this new "entry-level" Fodera. I will probably be purchasing another "expensive" bass in about a year and a half and I have been throwing ideas around in my head, but Fodera had not been on the list (because $4750 is just slightly above what I had in mind), but now that I hear this, I am definitely going to keep my eye on the Fodera web-site about this instrument.

The funny thing is that this thread has actually cleared up a lot of "misconceptions" I had about Fodera and made me appreciate the brand more than I had in the past. Thanks for all of your helpful input, and keep thumpin'.

To me spending $300,000 on a kid is ridiculous and not worth it at all. I'd rather have a Fodera. :D

People buy and sell stuff for all sorts of reasons... but I understand how much fun it is to imagine what we'd like them to be.

IMO the only thing significant about whatever number of a particular piece of gear is for sale is the fact that someone else might have an opportunity to try it. It does not have to reflect on the brand.

I semi-lucked into my Fodera relatively cheap. Pretty sure that should I choose to sell it, it won't be anywhere near that price.

And I've spoken to a few people who've only put gear up under spousal duress, hoping it wouldn't sell. It happens.

This answer was really good. Imagine that, a small business that does things correctly and takes care of its emps. Awesome. This is becoming such a rare thing in our economy since all anyone seems to care about is how cheap they can get something. Being a teacher and a musician, there is just no way I will ever be able to own a Fodera but I love that they are successful (along with other boutiques) at what they are doing--thanks
