Hmmm, I got a good look at his EQ. It appears he has like a reverse scooped tone, ie. loads of mids. That's where the jazzy burp will be coming from me thinks.

I'm looknig at a Kustom Groovehead amp., and some nice 4x12 bass cabs.xshawnxearthx said:there is two problems i find coming from bands that use a ray.
a.) most bass players dont know how to make a ray sound really good. i can, but only at a low volume. once i start going nuts, it sounds like poop.
b.) if you are playing this and you need to be heard. get yourself a good high wattage amp.

It will do, it's just my black spector has bags of punch. It's got such a deep down punchy tone.Ben Clarke said:Yeah, prolly has nothing at all to do with the bass.
i find i can pick out a stingray tone from most of the bands that sue it. because it always has this same sound.Nickthebassist said:I'm looknig at a Kustom Groovehead amp., and some nice 4x12 bass cabs.![]()

I do agree with the b.) statement, because when I had my SR5,I found that playing thru amps that had real good power like my Ampeg 1600,and a SWR 500M with 2 4x10 cabinets, the bass was real clean and powerful, however with a low wattage amp it didn't sound all that good to me.xshawnxearthx said:there is two problems i find coming from bands that use a ray.

I think they're trying to say that 'looks' shound't have nothing to do with it. Providing the tone you want is there...Nickthebassist said:WHOA! Just because I don't like its looks?!![]()
