Hmmm, I got a good look at his EQ. It appears he has like a reverse scooped tone, ie. loads of mids. That's where the jazzy burp will be coming from me thinks.

there is two problems i find coming from bands that use a ray.
a.) most bass players dont know how to make a ray sound really good. i can, but only at a low volume. once i start going nuts, it sounds like poop.
b.) if you are playing this and you need to be heard. get yourself a good high wattage amp.

It will do, it's just my black spector has bags of punch. It's got such a deep down punchy tone.Ben Clarke said:

I do agree with the b.) statement,because when I had my SR5,I found that playing thru amps that had real good power like my Ampeg 1600,and a SWR 500M with 2 4x10 cabinets,the bass was real clean and powerful,however with a low wattage amp it didn't sound all that good to me.xshawnxearthx said:

By the way, I find my Status does a pretty good SR impersonation when both pickups are on full and I boost the treble a bit and pluck near the bridge. I imagine this should work with most basses with two pickups and active preamps. Does anyone feel the same, or am I imagining things?
