so the G&L mj5...

Do you know how to order one? I don't see anything on their website. Do you have to go through a dealer?

Here are some details on the model itself: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

The MJ5 starts at $1950 MSRP, so you'd see one with no upgrades advertised online for $1465 (75% of MSRP is as low as dealers can advertise). We like to beat the internet price on G&L stuff, so we come in a bit less than that. PM me your specs if interested, and I can generate a quote for you.

As with all of the G&L models, you do need to go through a dealer to purchase. And I just happen to be one of those! LOL

Just a heads up! There are 5 MJ-5's on this morning's available list from G&L. That means there are 5 completed MJ-5 basses sitting at the G&L factory ready to ship immediately! As an added bonus, I can tell you the weight and specs on all of them:

MJ_5 BLACK MP LTSN_1/4 SAWN 9.1
MJ_5 BLONDE MP LTSN_1/4 SAWN 9.2
MJ_5 BLONDE MP LTSN_1/4 SAWN 9.3
MJ_5 BLONDE RW LTSN_1/4 SAWN 9.7
MJ_5 TOBCCO SUNBURST RW XX_1/4 SAWN VTSN 9.3

Let me know if you're interested in one of these and I can get you a quote. We'd need to act quickly before they ship somewhere else.

I also have an MJ-5 that I ordered on the way. Alder/RW in Tobacco Burst, quartersawn neck and LTSN (Light Tint Satin Neck). It just shipped today, so I should receive it in a week. I won't know the weight on that one until it gets here.

Here's the MJ-5 for my store inventory that just arrived this morning. Slurp!!

This one weighs 9.3 lbs, and it's got a crisp and beefy jazz bass tone. Really nice!

Like most manufacturers, G&L does not ground the pole pieces on these (same goes for the MJ-4). So in the wrong environment, you can get a little buzz when you take your hands off the strings. It's an easy fix, though. I've done the mods below to two MJ-5's, and they were dead quiet when I was done.

And while you're at it, do this, too:
