Yikes! Tough crowd... I figured there'd be a lot more George Carlin fans around here and we could all use some election day laughs after all the vitrol.

How did you vote on Prop B?? That has a very far reaching effect to non-Cali folks as well lol.
No offense, but those who think the vote doesn't matter are not paying attention. No difference between war and peace?, between a 14% mortgage or a 5% mortgage?
Trying to stay non-partisan on the examples. Remember also that creating apathetic voters is a political strategy - they think your vote is important regardless of what you think.

Well stated, +1.
Although I must admit, I'm underinformed about many local races this year. I voted this morning and tried to stick with the races where I could make a reasonably informed decision. The ballot is so friggin' long here in Chicago, though, including scores of judicial retention votes. I tried to look up the endorsements for this section on my phone while I was in the booth, but the page had an ad with audio that couldn't be muted. So I wound up skipping that section..
This. It is your civic duty..
"Every right implies a responsibility; every opportunity, an obligation; every possession, a duty"- John D.Rockefeller Jr.
Its just a joke. I heard it on the radio this morning, myself. Apparently it originated as a Tim Tebow tweet...
One great advantage of voting by mail is that one can take several days to find the information needed to decide on unfamiliar people/issues. In the amount of time I used to have to stand in line in Missouri I can research the entire ballot.

Look at my post that he responded to. I'm not Rain Man, so memorizing the retention votes on 50+ different judges is rather difficult. Why would anyone wait until the last possible moment to get the information needed to make their decision? It's not as if the election was spontaneous.

Oh, just a JOKE! Well by all means lets roll out all the jokes that denigrate parties and candidates. What could be political about that?
Are you serious?
Agreed. This is how threads go downhill and get closed.Oh, just a JOKE! Well by all means lets roll out all the jokes that denigrate parties and candidates. What could be political about that?

I have solved this political dilemma in a very direct way: I don't vote. On Election Day, I stay home. I firmly believe that if you vote, you have no right to complain.
Now, some people like to twist that around. They say, 'If you don't vote, you have no right to complain,' but where's the logic in that? --If you vote, and you elect dishonest, incompetent politicians, and they get into office and screw everything up, you are responsible for what they have done. You voted them in. You caused the problem. You have no right to complain.
I, on the other hand, who did not vote -- who did not even leave the house on Election Day -- am in no way responsible for that these politicians have done and have every right to complain about the mess that you created.
Don't take it so personally. Matt has a point. People should be able to laugh it off, but (like you) I find that politics is something most people can't joke about.
No, he wouldn't tweet that. And I checked his twitter page just to be sure. Its just a joke. I heard it on the radio this morning, myself. Apparently it originated as a Tim Tebow tweet...

Wait ... it's today? Why hasn't there been anything on the news about it?
