So What exactly does "vintage modified" stand for?

I have in my mind at the moment the image of the bass player in Spinal Tap explaining the song "Sex Farm Woman": "It's about this woman... and... she lives on a farm..." and then he lapses into silence as he realizes there is no way to explain the song without admitting how adolescent and sexist it is. Now let's apply this to "vintage modified": "Well, it's vintage... or vintage-style... but... it's modified... and, uh..."
