Some poor bugger is selling all their deceased relatives hodge-podge 60s-70s Jazz basses and random original (?) parts on the local on-line rag atm. My lord I feel sorry for them. I’ll try to spare my children that ordeal if possible...

Maybe keep an updated inventory of what you have and how much piece by piece they could reliably stand to get for it could help for the unpleasant but inevitable and unpredictable thing that waits for us all. The stuff I got new or from a pawn shop still has original receipts with serial numbers right on them, but I mean, my father plays, so while my stuff is in their stead they're not SOL if "SOMETHING" happens. My girlfriend, on the other hand, could easily stand to benefit from something like that, though she knows the acoustic that I have up here could more or less be firewood without much consequence.

I'm tempted to say "an amp," personally. So have at it!

Dad’s need to be practical folks. I’m happy to be workin’ it with a great little SWR workingman’s 12 and Goliath Jr. 3, 210 cabinet. My space constraints limit what fits in my trusty 2004, BMW 325ci.

I had a workingman's 15 & 12. Both were killer. Sold the 15 because of back issues. Sold the 12 to get something with a little more kick. Went with d class amp & cabs. Sick of the 2 part setup, back to looking for high wattage lightweight combos....

I remember going in there, it was like Status, Status, Status, Trace, Trace, Trace, oh and here's some other gear. I think that was the first and only time I got to handle a 5-string steinberger. That part of London has changed a lot!

First bass and bass amp I learnt on belonged to the church. My friends mum played them. She eventually got her own bass, but kept using the church bass amp. So maybe this is correct.

My stuff goes in and out of bars every week . Usually mid sized bars , not going through the PA so the stage mix is the room mix . I gotta fill the room .
Small , light , modular is the best solution for me . Bergantino cabs and power .
I'm a happy "Dad" .

Dad's that can still learn and evolve choose class-d - lightweight, efficient, reliable, accurate, and really not important to trying to present some false facade. Dad's more important than what's sitting behind him.

Think a Dad amp is either a Rumble or MarkBass combo.

Considering putting the old " rack" back together.

Or recording at home with really expensive 800 watt ClassDs. With preamps that are basic and unneeded

OK, I'll bite, here's my Dad Amp set-up. I've still got the MM 4X12 as well but even if I could lift it I couldn't get it into the car. To be honest, I rarely use the MM amp, I have a little GK which sounds mùch better with double bass; still for the occasional fretted gig it remains useable.
