BTW the one that bugs me on TV and radio is "thank you for having me."

They HAD you? For what? Dinner? Something I dare not name?

The correct phrase is "thank you for having me on your show," but no one ever says this

I will also add that that "thank you for having me on your show" is annoying as poopie on CNN, etc. when I just wanna hear their comment before the TV commercial is over.

So, they're sowing their mild dotes, in a fashion — harmless enough. Sow don't read too much into it. Pointless language makes a point. Nobody has to do it, so there. Just opt out. So it will go away

Y'know I'm not sure. So the other day I was like listening to the radio and like everyone had this verbal pattern they kept y'know going through for each like sentence or whatever, and y'know it kinda like bothered me like a lot, so y'know I kept on like listening and the amount of y'know like so well was so irritating I could barely like follow the conversation y'know?

Fresh Air on NPR sometimes has a linguistics segment. I think I remember one about people who start sentences with “so.” I think they suggested that this was a usage that is often heard in educational settings.

I know that as a teacher, I tend to use “so” as a transition quite often.

“So” backwards is “os” which means hole or opening, and a needle has a hole for thread, and…

…illuminati.
