So why is it worth 10 Grand? Why not?

You've got to be kidding me. What the heck makes this bass worth 10 Grand. Is it made of gold? Or did Greg Curbow come to his house and make it right in front of him?

Is it rare, vintage, cool, one-of-a-kind? Maybe, but still not worth $10,000.00.

But, hey, if you got the money and want to pay it, more power to you. Then you can brag your bass cost 1,000 times more than a new Squier. That's gotta be worth something.

Just checked out the last vid on that guy's page. If you're white in america, and apparently have enough money to buy $10K basses, you shouldn't be complaining about anything. Freaking whackjob.

Love the irony. Never understood why you need a 5 figure instrument, much less 6, to play hillybilly music.

+1

To parallel that, a "punk bass" that is $10k would seem rather ironic as well. The whole point was simplicity and no-frills attitude. Free country though and people can spend their money how they want. I'm just glad I know how to do moderate instrument setups and pickup wiring...make life muuuuuch easier (and cheaper) for me ;):bassist:

See 'em with some regularity in Georgia, but even if you search the classifieds here on TB, you'll find several examples over the past couple years running from roughly 1500-2500ish. There will always be a few outliers in either direction, but you really shouldn't have much trouble getting a nice one in the 2k range if you're diligent!

Here we have yet another one, folks. The guy paid way too much, and, to top it off, he's braggin' that he paid double. I guess they seen him comin'.

EXACTLY why I tell people not to visit forums. You people are simply mean for the sake of being mean. Get out of here and find better things to do with your lives while I play my hillbilly music on a bass that I love. I wanted one GREAT bass, I found it, bought it and am happy about it and my KISS shirts. Why sit around like the cast of "The View" and cackle like a bunch of old women over it? Is there a minimum age to be in here?

So, let's see how good the moderators are in here and see if ANYONE (other than myself), actually gets booted from here.

Rule #1: Respect your fellow members
All registered users must address fellow members with the utmost respect at all times. If you do not agree with a fellow member, be courteous in your response. Thomas Jefferson said it best: "When I hear another express an opinion which is not mine, I say to myself, he has a right to his opinion, as I to mine".

Because of the limitations of text based communication, the expression of intent can be tricky. One of the most common triggers of rule violations is the misinterpretation of intent behind a post. Use smilies often, and remember, it never hurts to begin a response with "In my opinion"...

If you do not address everyone on the board with respect, be prepared to lose your membership.

This will be interesting. I've seen Scott show up on a few web forums, and it's always entertaining. I won't post a link, because the content isn't appropriate for this site, but go search his exchange with one of the members of Invalid Link Removed.

Yep, I only show up in these places when friends tell me to do so because of the same thing that is going on here. I would actually expect a "Congrats" on your new axe day and that be it. It NEVER is. It's always THIS. So, please give it a rest. Some of you are true grown ups and I appreciate that. I've never seen so many threads that are concerned with my guitars, what I spend on them, what I'm wearing, who I look like. What does any of it matter? I'm lucky enough to have EARNED the ability to afford big boy toys. I'm allowed to do so. It's called THE AMERICAN DREAM. I live it every day. I just stand for slander. So again, the COUPLE of you in this thread, just please chill out, close or delete the thread and go on your merry way and I will enjoy the fruits of my labor as I see fit.
Scott

I watched this vid when it was first posted and I was touched by the love that this dood seems to have for Greg. Maybe overpaid but if it really is one of the last that he made then maybe so for sentimental reasons.

I see one really nice dood who gives a crap and seems to maybe not have any worries about money.

Ain't nothing wrong with that - and KISS tee shirts rock.

It mattered enough to you to post a video to the world about it! You put all this info out there. If you dont want criticism dont put stuff online! You are not above anyone else to be criticized. All the post I read were in good taste mostly worried you got taken advantage of! So get off your high horse and chill out! Or stop posting public videos and going to forums.

You are exactly the type of people who cause the problems. If you knew ANYTHING about my business, I MUST MAKE A VIDEO FOR EVERY INSTRUMENT, DO A REVIEW, POST IT ONLINE AND ON MY WEB SITE IN ORDER TO 100% WRITE IT OFF AS A TAX DEDUCTION. I get to write off every single instrument I buy as long as I use them to teach lessons with, tell about the instrument as an educational video etc. So, I'm doing it because I pull in big bucks every year and I MUST purchase many high dollar instruments, use them as stated etc. in order to not pay half of my income to Uncle Sam every year. If you would ask instead of JUDGE, you might come off a little smarter than you currently are.
There's a reason for everything and you simply aren't "reasonable".
