Is anyone finding it ironic that this is called a "Revolutionary International Event" while most Markbass gear is fixed to the power-mains requirements for the country where the gear is sold and not really "international" in application? They don't hide that the power supplies on most of their amps are not auto-sensing or universal.

Apparently they're bussing people to the Bona concert afterwards.

Oh no doubt. The gear sounds good and virtually every for-hire sound rental company in the world has Markbass heads and cabs in their rental/backline stock. It was actually a brilliant idea not to use universal power supplies in their equipment because it probably saved them money on approvals and forced hiring companies to maintain local stock of that equipment instead of flying gear around.

But as usual, on forums, these things kinda build expectations and just as usual, they rarely end up being what people think they will be.

In the meantime, carry on and play. ;-)

Never had a complaint with the tone or function of my cabs! I have a NY121 and a Traveler121, both have been absolute rock solid workhorses for 7-8yrs now. They show absolutely no signs of slowing down, and I have never had the slightest inclination to replace them. They've never let me down, and sound great for all sorts of live applications. Chances are these new things will be of similar quality (though TBF I have no experience with QC on MB stuff once it moved from being made in Italy).

But that doesn't stop this product launch/promo from looking like an absolute train wreck!

Same feelings here exactly. I’ve used my Markbass stuff on tons of gigs ever since 2006 and always rated it as excellent in every respect. But this fiasco today has really pissed me off.

Worst promo ever.

So they're back to being made in Italy and the cabs are lighter and made of something other than wood?

That's cool. It's not nothing. Maybe the lightness will be a bigger deal when we feel them for ourselves.

The presentation is appropriately gone and the branding is typical Marco cult of personality. I especially love how he named a product after his age lol. It's the same sort of harmlessly weird and self-important vibe we've come to expect from Markbass. At least it's clearly still one guy's vision and not some nauseating corporate gloss.

He's like the tubby old guy that makes an action movie as a vanity project, a la "Get Even". But in his case the movie is actually really good.

So... . They put their cabs on weight watchers, shed a few pounds, edit some video with some lightning bolts, paid actors saying good job and called it revolutionary?

I call bull$%!t

Don't get me wrong, I really like MB gear but this presentation was crap. And the gear is a new line, not revolutionary.
