Songs on Bass That Chicks Like

I'm going to college next year and I plan on bringing an acoustic bass that I will eventually purchase. I also play guitar, but I prefer bass :bassist:. My mom says I should bring an acoustic guitar instead, because people don't want to hear bass and girls like to hear a guitar. Are there any songs on bass or bass parts to songs that one could use to serenade the ladies ;)? I also ask because I would like expand my musical knowledge on bass as well. Please help recommend some songs, and thank you for taking the time to read this and suggest some. and feel free to move this thread if its in the wrong forum....

"My Girl" by The Temptations or "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King

I promise. We did "My Girl" as a house band for a big college festival and I heard about a dozen screams come up from the crowd...which was a dozen more chicks screaming than any other song in our catalog. And it only took me literally 4 notes and 2 seconds of the song to get the reaction.

I was always into chicks who liked the violent femmes, and they'd be pretty easy to impress with an ABG if you have the chops, but perhaps today's college chicks have different tastes than they did fifteen years ago?

I second this. If you bust out Blister in the Sun you'll have their attention.

I would also suggest the intro to Bitchin' Camaro by the Dead Milkmen. It's a real simple walk with hilarious spoken lyrics.

Forget the bass. Your mom is right. Serenading a broad with a bass is not good.

Agreed. But you run the risk of...

Well the video is supposed to be the clip from Family Guy of "What D-Bags did to the guitar" which I thought was clever and appropriate (kid playing guitar on the quad for the ladies, "Every beer I ever drank is on a shelf above my bed..."), but, due to copyright laws, is currently unavailable. So here is a clip of Stewie playing the guitar.

Acoustic guitar is just better for the ladies.

this will only work if you can sing as well... and if you can i'd suggest either "with a little help from my friends" or "something" by the beatles. also grand funk railroad's version of "some kind of wonderful" was basically just bass, drums, and lyrics (not that the bass part is particularly hard, but it's a good song none the less)
