Songs on Bass That Chicks Like

Well this topic reminds of me of my older brother (a bass player as well) who was playing at a church. Apparently he busted out a solo and everyone was saying good job and "slappin' the bass lololol". Then some girl came up to him and told him he played nice guitar. He was a ticked but he sucked it up and said, "thank you."

I feel bad for him.

So the moral of the story is that chicks don't know what a bass is or don't give a crap about bass.

And playing guitar to get chicks makes you look like a tool. It's only cool when you do it to your girlfriend.

Very true. Just bring an electric bass, start/join a band, stand near the front, and pretend you're a guitar player. You don't have to play bass like a guitar player, but that standing in the back with the drummer stuff isn't going to get you noticed, and the point is to get noticed. They won't know the difference.

Also, only douches play guitar- or any other instrument- to get laid, especially the kind who just sit around on the quad or whatever. Don't be a douche.

And BTW, in my experience, the people who get chicks because they play guitar are people who get a lot of chicks anyway. I have never seen a shy ugly loser pick up a guitar and suddenly be overwhelmed by a tidal wave of chicks (a poon-nami, if you will). Its generally the attractive, self confident (or arrogent and douchy) people, and in that case playing guitar is really just another tool to get laid, not the reason in itself.

Women go for that acoustic singer songwriter stuff...rhythm guitar and serenade kinda stuff...They are awed by a simple 3 chord song as long as you can sing it...not by bass virtuoso-ism. Frankly I don't think most women appreciate instrumental music the same way men do, especially not the same way musicians do, what you find impressive she will find dull...I don't think its a big coincidence that non-vocal roles in music are male dominated.

*disclaimer: Clearly there are good/excellent female bassists, Carol Kay, that chick from the talking heads, Paz...I'm just talking about what the general lay(non-musician) population.

Translation: Women are too stupid to know anything about good music or play instruments, even though my "disclaimer" basically proves this wrong.

Way to be sexist, dude. Women aren't often encouraged toward rock music, or stay away from it because they think it isn't for them.

And you seriously think that female musicians haven't tried to break into the rock music scene? Just because there aren't a lot of famous female rock musicians doesn't mean women aren't trying and not getting hired because guys won't let them in. And lots of women play classical instruments, which are even more impressive than rock music IMO.

I'm with Euphony in this.
There're a lot of women out there who like rock music and go to concerts.
I've met guys who get 'scared' and run away when they find out that we aren't into the sh**** sugar-sugar crappy songs we're supposed to like according to their ideas.

Just investigate the likings of your potential gf first. Maybe she's cliché, but maybe you're lucky and she's not. (I mean she is not cliché, not that she's not lucky :D )

Best thing to do to impress would be to take your bass to college. Keep it in a hard case (not a dorky gig bag) in the corner of your room. Leave sheets of music laying around. And mention to everybody that you play bass in a band and despite what you are studying at college your first love is music. This will give you an identity and whenever talking to chicks, a topic that will kick start the conversation.

But, the most important thing to remember about women is that besides loving music, they also love to talk. So after the intro shut up and get her to do the gabbing. Before you know it you will be laying in bed caressing your bass with one hand and your new lady with the other.
