Songs on Bass That Chicks Like

I'd just work out a few licks then do some beatnik poetry, you know, say a couple of "profound" lines then play a short, jazzy lick. A beret and a cigarette help, too.

There's a stand-up comic named Jim Tavare who performs with an AUB. You could learn a couple of his bits (Last Comic Standing). Girls always like to laugh.

Hey, lots of dudes have picked up an instrument with worse intentions than getting laid - nothing wrong with that. But don't go serenading anyone please - especially on bass. That's weird. If you ever get a group together though try some of these songs...

Brick House - Commodores
Tell Me Baby - RHCP
You're So Damn Hot - Ok Go
Sex On Fire - KOL
Mr. Brightside - Killers
I Will Possess Your Heart - DCFC
Blue Eyes - Cary Bros.
Love You Madly - Cake
Let's Get It On - Marvin Gaye
I Got A Man - Positive K
Rapper's Delight - Sugarhill Gang (or Good Times by Chic)
I Touch Myself - DiVinyls
Love Song - (Cure or 311 version)
Do Me - Jean Knight
Baby It's You - Smith
Roxanne - Police
May This Be Love - Jimi
Is This Love - Marley

...and that's just off the top of my head. Get creative and be kind of a jerk - they'll be all over you. I wish I could have stayed in college forever. ;)

Upon further thought - just...don't serenade. At my school we made fun of the 2 or 3 guys who would do that. If you're gonna play out on a park bench in the middle of campus just play some originals or some fun music. Bring a djembe friend, a guitar friend, and some light comedy.

eeehm...there are probably cool bass lines out there that are fun to dance on, but I really don't think you're going to impress girls sitting in the grass and playing on your accoustic bass alone. To me, bass belongs in a band context, not by itself!
